Kenney talks about his plan for education today.

https://twitter.com/EmmaLGraney

I mean it's not bad (I like the standardized testing stuff), but any thoughts on what things like "school choice" and "parental authority" mean in the context of the UCP?

IIRC, school choice is code for private and religious schools, and that government shouldn't dictate the curriculum that teachers should teach (i.e. a religious school might say that teaching LGBTQ rights conflicts with their beliefs).

Parental authority is code for outing kids to their parents if they join a GSA (as in, parents are the ultimate authority in what their kids should be taught, even if it is outside of mainstream beliefs or even hurtful).

If you ever want to know why the rest of the country thinks Alberta is the Texas/Alabama of Canada - you just have to watch the dominate conservative party lose its 3-5 candidates every election due to racist comments.

Oh the liberal party's self described climate change plan they released today is a "Revenue Neutral Carbon tax"

I cringe when any party claims something will be revenue neutral.

NDP just announced they will be subsidizing all daycares in Alberta with the $25/day subsidy. I am definitely voting for them now.

Alberta is one of the best educated provinces in the confederation and Calgary was the first major Canadian city to elect a Muslim mayor. Alberta is an extremely innovative and progressive province regardless of what people think.
The fact that the rest of Canada doesn't recognize that shouldn't stop us from sticking up for Alberta and electing a party that represents the best interest of the province.
What's the other option, close down all oil and gas production, elect the NDP and watch them run the province into the ground? Sounds a lot like more "social license" talk to me and quite frankly it still wouldn't change the minds of many in Eastern Canada and BC.

Let me guess, using all the money the'll be pulling in from a carbon tax?

An NDP government would subsidize all child care spaces in Alberta at a cost of $1.5 billion over five years, Premier Rachel Notley said Monday.

It would expand on a pilot project that offers $25 a day daycare for 7,300 spots in 122 facilities throughout the province.

They figure it will create jobs.

In a news release, the party said it estimates the plan would increase employment by nearly 43,000 people and add almost $6 billion each year to the GDP.
