Freaks and Geeks is now on Netflix...I'm told it's a recent addition anyway.

There must be a way to fool it, that basically makes half the shows I want to watch worthless.

If you ever figure it out, let me know! I've noticed it does play in HD on my iPad but would much rather watch on my computer with 5.1 sound.

To fix this problem:

Log onto your netflix account on a pc/mac/whatever and change your streaming settings. You are probably set to variable or something.

Nope, video quality is set to the maximum, and it's only on the PC that the HD doesn't come on, it is in HD on other devices.

From what I read it's a studio level thing.

What device are you using to view it on? Does it behave the same if watched on something different (PC, etc.)?

I found out by accident yesterday that you can access the Apple TV's subtitle menu by pressing and holding the "select" button for a couple of seconds.

On my PS3.

I've never tried it on any other device. I guess I can give it a shot on my laptop when I get home and see.

BTW, when will HBO finally throw some shows on there. The day Entourage is on Netflix is the day where I buy a lifetime subscription.

Checked mine as well and I'm also set to maximum. Really annoying. Nice big panel, great surround sound, standard def pic

They've got their own streaming service so I doubt their shows will show up on Netflix any time soon.

Have you seen the WWII documentary that's in colour? I watched the first episode (there are 13) and it was pretty awesome.

Witness the most dramatic moments of World War II as never before possible -- in high-definition color -- in this documentary series. Newly discovered footage and computer-enhanced imagery create an immersive chronicle of the war from every side.

I tried it on my computer here at work and there were no French subtitles, but I did notice a bunch of user reviews complaining about there being French subtitles. So you're not alone, and if the subtitle setting on the PS3 doesn't fix it, I'd say that you're effed until Netflix fixes it.

Seconded.

I've watched the first few episodes and it's awesome.

I'm pretty sure most of it is false color though?

I know color film existed back then but I thought it was extremely rare and expensive. Not "go to war" film.

Still very cool. Makes it a lot more "real"

^ Slightly off-topic, but as Remembrance Day approaches, keep an eye out for the Apocalypse: The Second World War series on the National Geographic Channel. It is usually on a few times in November. Same type of idea with the colourized images, but it is quite well done and worth setting the PVR for. It is broken up into six one-hour parts.

So I mentioned to my lady that there was a way to get US Netflix on our PS3. The next day, I come home from work to find out that she's figured it all out on her own and set us up with Unblock-US.

What a woman!
