I want to see more of this type of effort. Right to the end of the season.
Besides, the draft this year is the biggest crap shoot of all time.
Agreed. Play like this the rest of the season and pick up where you left off next season. Instill hard work and playing the right way into these guys. Tanking would be pretty bad for the young guys on the team if you are trying to teach them to win.

I still think the Flames can pull it off. Montreal hasn't impressed me, and they got really lucky tonight. Montreal has games in hand, but there is enough head-to-head games to flip the standings, plus Calgary has the easier schedule.
It most certainly isn't over, even if tonight moved the Flames away from Montreal. They weren't likely to sweep them. Flames are looking good though!

That Treliving didn't address the glaring issue of having a lack of goal scorers and a lack of RW depth in the offseason, when Toffoli was sitting right there in free agency (while being friends with Monahan).
Sorry, thought that was obvious.
We could definitely use the scoring RW in Toffoli, but it means we don't have the cap space for either Markstrom or Tanev. Which one do we give up to sign Toffoli?
Can they just tank already??? They aren't making it in and by some miracle of Jeebuz if they did make it in, they would get knocked out in 4 games. Team isn't good enough, do what is right for the team already.
Fear of a first round sweep is absurd to me. There isn't one team in this division that I would see a sweep as being probable whatsoever. Especially with the way the Flames are playing now.
They look good and it's fun to watch. Would much rather see the players get rewarded when they are working like this.

If they go on a streak and make playoffs I can guarantee you they won’t lose in 4. If flames miraculously make it in , then watch out.
Right, eff the tank. It's bad for the kids. It'll make em losers. Newsflash anti tank crowd, they're already losers with the effort this season, and the one before.
But hey, let's continue this wonderful cycle of always finishing off a losing season strong, its done the franchise so well for 30 years. Right? Right?
Stupid mentality. If the seasons already lost, then lose it all the way.
Also who cares if this draft is a crap shoot, the most heavily scouted and known commodities are in the top 10. At least get yourself a better chance at something good in a uniquely uninformed draft.

So they should play hard and they'll just miss the playoffs, get a 15th overall pick, come back next year and play like crap until its almost too late then go on a run and just barely miss the playoffs, get a 15th overall pick and do it all again and again? People will be outraged but will give Treliving "one more year" because he almost made some game changing deals and has put some groundwork in place for bigger deals....just needs one more chance!
This seems oddly family as a Flames fan...

Dang. Had it PVR'd then my phone ruined the score. But atleast I didn't have to endure the heartbreak...I don't know if the Canadiens or Toffoli is more of a Fraud. Dude has topped 30 goals and 50 points once but seems to be having a career year this year.
Sportsclubstats takes forever to update, but I think the Flames chances will be below 3.0% once the scores are refreshed.
It is idiotic to do anything other than prioritize drafting and development at this point. There's already an overwhelming losing culture, so you don't have to worry about forming that.

Agreed.
Give Ruzicka and Phillips some looks to end the season and grab a Guenther/Johnson/Hughes in the top 10 of the draft.
I think Tre will make some major changes in the off-season regardless of how we finish. Really pisses me off that this team has now decided to compete.

It's not over yet. Tough one to lose against the team we're trying to beat out for the final spot but keep playing hard.
