Will miss Rittich for sure. I hope he can find a permanent fit somewhere, but unless you're a stud, goaltenders have frequent flyer miles.
It a shame, he's almost the perfect backup. Heart of gold, hilarious persona, and the dude can play. It'd be nice to have him another few years I say.
It'll be interesting in the Summer. It's always musical chairs for goalies. If things break in favour of the Flames, he could sign back with the Flames on a 1 year deal. It would suck for Rittich but Flames fans would be happy.

Honest question, how do you price a 3rd round pick in $? Or any level pick for that matter.
Rittich's 2021 salary is $2,750,000. So, in essence, Calgary Flames are paying $1.375 in exchange for a 3rd round pick in 2022 draft. Is this a good deal? Bad deal? Is any deal a GM can get for the remaining "dead money" in a bad season is a good deal?
Rittich’s salary is a sunk cost. Trading him saves money, not costs money. Plus you are using cap, not prorated salary.
I was surprised that Rittich had a Leafs mask with his number on it so quick. How do they turn that around in less than two days?
The mask was definitely a printed graphic sheet vinyl wrap and applied to the mask. The colouring on the striping of the pads was a product called Pad wrap.
In case people didn't see this. He is more than likeable. Just a great guy overall. Saw this in Herald this morning.

I think Pearson was actually trying to dump the puck there. I don't want to give BSD an excuse because that was a bad goal but that is an unusual angle for a shot to be taken. (because it wasn't intended to be a shot on goal I think)
I think Dave thought the shot was coming on net and tried to re-direct it into the corner, when instead it was going into the corner and he re-directed it into the net.

That puck would have left the zone at 80mph if that was a dump in. It was a bad shot and a bad goal.

No excuses as they were horrific goals to give up in a game that the Leafs had a 3rd period lead. This isn't new for Rittich as it's the reason the Flames gave Markstrom his big fat contract. I wish BSD well but if he considers himself a starting goaltender he's going to have to work harder on his craft as he's nowhere near consistent enough.
