Sadly... many years ago I worked at an organization where literally the day after a his departments 50% layoff the one manager pulled into the open air parking lot, to their front row assigned stall, in his brand new Jaguar sports car. I suspect the car helped him get over his grief.

I'm hearing there were layoffs at a certain midstream company his week....rhymes with 'enema'.

Any word on what departments?

My info is too specific, so I don’t want to share too much, but the one business group I know was shook up pretty good. Lots of reorganizing and layoffs.

I don't know the department(s) but I know someone first hand that is now jobless since having being ejected via "enema".

Am I pronouncing Pembina wrong? In my head it sounds nothing like an enema (although maybe feels like one working there)

The B is silent.

Pem-meh-nuh

I've generally heard the Pem-bin-uh (said really quickly), but also Pem-been-ah occasionally. First one is similar to the "Pem-meh-nuh" but the b is definitely not silent in what I've heard.

Random thought:

If people can’t agree on how your company’s name should be pronounced, maybe your company should invest in some advertising so that it is clear how the name should be pronounced or, better yet, maybe you should just change its name to something else that is easier and clearer for everyone.

Pembina's unofficial stance:
Lately there has been some discussion about how to pronounce our company name. To our valued customers.....we're the only game in town, we don't give a **** how you say our name...**** you!

Bump!
Interpipeline, aka IPL, underwent a number of layoffs this week due to the recent Brookfield takeover. Heard it from a friend there and also a work colleague who has a friend there. Dunno numbers or details. Anyone here affected?

Just a word of caution for anyone with a company cell phone / number that they also use for personal purposes.

In this day of so much being tied to your cell number (i.e. two factor authentication for CRA and your bank) it's a real PITA if you do get the axe and you have to surrender devices and or the phone number on short / no notice.

Best to lug around 2 phones to be honest, as inconvenient as it is.

Elliott Investment Management sent a letter to Suncor's board. Would have to think Mark Little is probably a bit warm this morning.

This is exactly what I've been doing since 2009. All the young people I work with think I'm crazy for having two phones, one for personal and one for work. They're just not seeing the forest through the trees.

You hit the nail on the head - there is a risk associated with combining them into one (for several reasons, really). If you're an employee, best to always keep your phones physically separate.
