This week, the final 3 race to Halifax. In an extremely close finish, Ty & Kat edge out Tyler and Kayleen to win the 9th TAR:Canada.

While I was a little disappointed not to pick the winner this time around, I do think Ty and Kat ran the best overall race and deserved the win.

I'm hoping that the race for 1 and 2 were as close as the edit made it seem. Kinda felt like Tyler and Kayleen lost by something like 5-10 minutes.

I have often wondered if they hold the second place team back out of sight once the outcome is pretty clear so they can have their moment on the mat.

Yes, they do. Previous winners / contestants have spoken about this. Once it's clear who's going to win, the others are stopped from entering the area.

Has their ever been a penalty in either the American or Canadian versions on the final leg that cost the winner? That would be ultimate drama.

Not that I can recall, but there may have been. Although if there was, it would probably be memorable, so maybe not?

I remember one season when Rob and Amber looked sure to win, because the other team missed a flight, but the flight was re-opened / called back to the gate.
