Icon25 Can the Oilers beat the Avs?

The Avs still need to get through the second round, but I'm confident they're making it. Too much firepower to be denied by St. Louis. Although they're currently trailing in game 6 haha. I hope it's not St. Louis, because I think the Oilers would match up better against them.

Anyways, in a possible match-up in the conference final, can the Oilers beat the Avs?

So far, the Oilers have had a pretty easy road in the playoffs. The Kings were pretty weak, but the Oilers had some good games to close out that series. They produced a ton of points (record shattering) against a Flames team that had a .852 SV% in the series, and they managed to win a couple of one goal games. The Avs have been tested in the playoffs and they should have the experience now to take that next step. Kind of like the experience Tampa needed to get over the hump, and now they're going for a 3-peat.

Hoping the Avs neatly sweep the Oilers into the trash. I don't want to hear some of these Oilers fans bragging for another week.

The only way I see the Oilers winning is if the Avs play down to them like the Flames did.

I don't think the oilers beat either Colorado or StLouis .
Sure they're playing well and seem healthy but unless the avs and blues are also beat up I cannot see them advance past next rd .

Avs should probably win first

And yes they can if McD and Drais stay greatest playoff performance ever hot and Smith can be serviceable

Hate to say it but the way McDavid and Draisaitl are playing and the confidence of the supporting cast they look like they could win it all.

The Avs have to beat the Blues first before asking this question

I had this thought too, but how much of their production was the Flames just being bad. Definitely if they are getting 17pts and 12pts each in 5 games against the Avs, they're winning. But can they sustain that against a stronger team. Not so sure.

Part of me wants the Oilers to go all the way to the finals and then lose in Game 7 in some stupid play by Smith ala 2006. That will be spectacularly funny.

But no, I don't think they can beat Colorado (or Tampa/Rangers if they squeak through to the finals)

The spOilers don't need to do anything....the NHL will happily do it for them, assisted by Sportsnet. In fact, they have ALREADY WON the Cup. Didn't you know that? The parade is planned, the refs have their instructions, the Situation Room knows what goals to disallow....c'mon!

Praise be the hallowed McJesus!!

In other news: I just cancelled Sportsnet in all forms. Fed up. Start a CP jihad on Twitter, Insta, wherever Flames fans are found. Hurt them in the pocketbook...it's the only language they understand.

I don't think the Oilers able to beat either of Blues or Avs. Avs has Big Mac and Blues has experience of wining the big prize.

I think if they get past the Avs, the team in the SC final has the potential to be an easier opponent for them. NYR/Carolina aren't overly strong. Tampa would be tougher.

I don't really care honestly, but when I think of Oilers in the playoffs I think of them in that Ducks series in 17'. I expect somewhere long the way something similar happens.

Weirdly enough, I think we gave the Oilers' top forwards enough confidence that they actually have a chance to beat the Avs. I don't think they would have chance of beating Tampa though. Vasilevsky is back on god mode.

Yup. They can. People here don’t give them the credit they deserve. That’s a damn good hockey team up there. People laughed at the idea of the Oilers beating us and they steamrolled us.

Now, I don’t think they will. But they can. They play the games for a reason.

If McDavid and Draisaitl keep playing the way they are then they can beat anyone.

Neither Husso or Kuemper look unbeatable and you’re going to need strong goaltending to beat them

Don't trust Keumper anymore than I Would trust Smith.

Personally, I think the Oilers end up in the Finals, and if it's anyone but Tampa they will have a good shot to win it.
