Due to a series of very questionable trades the league is reinstituting league votes for their deals for the time being.

Trade up for vote:
Team: San Jose Sharks

- McCann, Jared (C) NHL


Team: Florida Panthers

- Monahan, Sean (C) NHL

Two young bucks, same age, same salary, same rating with McCann actually having a better NHL season.

Just curious, what kind of adder is required here?

A 2nd. I think a 2nd brings it to a SJ win but not a blatant win. I personally wouldn't trade Monahan for McCann and a 2nd still but at that point it's not blatant, which imo vetoable deals should be when it's obvious

Monahan's value will never be lower and McCann's will never be higher so MJK's argument is fair, but there's a good chance that after surgery Monahan will be his productive self again (60-70 points) while McCann as the 3rd line center on the Pens will most likely not get more than 50 points. He benefitted from Malkin being injured

Tbh I think this is an easy win for Florida... but alas.

As a reminder this is what San Jose traded to get McCann
- 2021 3rd Round Draft Choice (was)
- 2022 2nd Round Draft Choice (chi)

So that was the worth. Monahan was then a big part of the deal that netted the Sharks Aaron Ekblad and Kucherov. And now Monahan is being traded back to the Sharks for a guy worth a 2nd and 3rd.

So I would say more than a 2nd. Monahan is a better historic player, who is still 1 OVR higher and has more long-term potential. Why on earth is this a deal that Florida would make?

I would give a 1st in the 20s for him. And I still don't think that's good value.

McCann is a lock on the Pens third line. Monahan could be a first liner on the flames, sens, sabres, etc

Monahan has 3 30 goal seasons and another 4 in the 20s. McCann's career high is 19

I just offered a better player than Monahan to SJ for McCann. Excited to try and make a deal.

So he should put him on the market at least. This would be the 4th deal that I view as being heavily slanted to you in one single off-season, all from Florida.

Florida has received
- Ryan Strome
-Sean Monahan
- A 2023 5th
- 2021 3rd
- 2022 2nd
- 2022 1st (NYI)
- Top 25 1st
- 2023 3rd

So let me get this straight. Monahan is on the block for 3 weeks. I make a deal with him. Commish team goes bananas, calls foul and makes an unprecedented move to put him back in the leash. Each trade had very different circumstances but no one is talking about those. Two guys trying to stay active and making deals.

Instead it’s blame game on bad MJK and crap on Nate who is more active than 1/3 of the entire league.

This stuff is supposed to be fun. We are talking about fake computer players with guys who have a mathematical formula to tell how good they are. Toss in random sim Gods that are just idiots like what the heck are we doing here?

I’m fine keeping McCann. I hope Nate gets good offers for Monahan, too bad it took this thread to get him some offers instead of the last 3 weeks Monahan sat on the trade block.
