Sutter definitely will want a bigger team but IMO sutter will want to keep all players who are 2 way players who work hard. I doubt any of Lindholm backlund gio are gone next year and after the ED Derek ryan will be resigned
I wouldn’t be surprised if Tkachuk isn’t on his must keep list

Acceptance is a good first step, and then, perhaps, he can ask his doctor about Cialis.

Meier has an extra year before he’s an RFA though.
Edit: I was clearly a couple of long pages behind.

Doug Wilson is one of the worst managers in the NHL.

Was Tkachuk not part of the shutdown line a few seasons ago?

Yes but did he potentially waste an entire season pouting because he was told to calm it down? Not sure sutter would put up with that.
Wouldn’t be surprised if that is why ward got fired and sutter brought in.

He also loves to turn the puck over at his blue line. Sutter isn’t a fan of that either
Not suggesting he’s not a good player just think guys like Lindholm and backlund will be sutter types. Pk pp and 5 on 5. Guys like kopitar Richards and carter all played every aspect of the game in all situations. Pure offensive players won’t get big ice under sutter either so they usually don’t do as well

Come on. That guy had his team in contender status for like 15 years.
His team is in rough shape now, but that was a loooong time coming.

Can't wait for Vegas to find a way to trade for Eichel now in response to their disappointment

16 series wins since he started in 2003. 13/14 years in the playoffs until these last 2 seasons.
The Blackhawks and Bruins both won 16 series in that span, too. Tampa 19* (or 18) and counting; the Pens have won 20.
The Kings and Caps only have 10...I can't imagine anyone else is very close to 16.

Had the luxury of being a very desirable destination for players, but with the current contracts they have, they should be bad/terrible for the next 8 years.

To clear cap space, they'll have to trade Stone to Calgary.

Yep. What a time to have those lingering contracts. Flat cap, no good, and dinosaurs. Yikes.

A healthy Eichel is miles better than Stone, Stone is a really good 2-way winger who might get you 70pts but remember he was still tolling in the AHL at age 22.
Eichel is stud center who put up 64g - 96a -160pts in 145 games before the neck problems, and that was arguably on the worst put together team in hockey.

Stone put up 61 points in 55 games this season, a 90+ point pace in a regular season. I don't think I would say there's a player in the league miles better than him (though I would take Eichel over him).

Yeah, by far his best season ever, but he's also 29 and on one of the best teams in the league. Going forward I have serious doubts he'll ever reach 90 points in a "real" season where he can't pick on four bad teams for over half the season.

By far?
He has 259 points in his last 255 games with two different teams including 62 points in 58 games with a bad Ottawa team (88 point pace). It's quite clear he's not a 70 point player and he's one of the most consistent producers in the league.

Fair enough, you have a man crush on him, I like him too and he makes any team better but to me he doesn't have close to the Oomph that Eichel can bring.
For arguments sakes lets make a CP donation bet, If Stone gets 90 pts next year I'll donate $50.00 to CP, if he doesn't...you do?
