Not really surprised - TSN / Bell seem to have very little interest in the Calgary market.

Why so long? The only thing I can think of is that TSN just doesn't have a lot of interest in covering the Flames.

not happy about this... not good news. Flames are treated like a second rate property on SN behind the Oilers and this means another decade of listening to Francis act like he know anything about hockey other than how to use his connections to get a job within the sport to try to create drama. Not only that but from a leverage perspective.... there's no way you sign away 11 years of TV rights and maximize your value

Wooosh. Garbage cameras, endless Oilers talk, tons of technical glitches.

Would rather see games streamed from the upper deck by a dude wearing a go-pro.

Why 11 years and not 10 or 12?

I guess at least the games will be televised.

The worst part about rogers is how openly hostile they seem to anyone accessing their product any other way than old fashioned cable tv - it's a dinosaur of a company but they've got monopolies on multiple fronts. Any non cable streaming products they've offered are just complete garbage at extortionist prices. No way to record games or time shift, clunky apps that feel like they were built 10 years ago. Saw someone say on here recently that you could buy their channels through third parties like Amazon and get a better experience though?

Good news for Rick Ball i would think.

Now if they could move Millen in full time or anyone other than Hrudey for color, that would be a win.

I'm pretty ambivalent as long as I can see the games.
But I do think Rogers gives us top tier PBP talent for regional games

Woof. But if we can keep Rick Ball and Ryan Leslie than I'm fine.

As long as Rick Ball is staying put for those years I'm good with that.
Ryan Leslie does a good job hosting too

Not surprising.

One interesting things is, in the past, the Flames and Oilers deals have typically been announced at the same time.

Given the arena sponsorship in Edmonton, I don't see there being a change there, but it is interesting to see a decoupling of the Flames and Oilers announcements. With the current states of each team, the Oilers may have felt they could get a better deal negotiating on their own.

I'm curious what the money looks like on a deal like this, but I don't think those are usually disclosed for the local/regional deals.
