Excited to see Frolik 2.0 (Rieder) draw in and Frolik 1.0 sent for decommissioning.

The problem is Brodie hesitated and didn't commit one way or another. Typical TJ Brodie play. Guy has a tonne of talent but nothing in the bucket.

The other good news is that, if Frolik gets benched because he was bad, his agent will complain and he will then have a couple really good games (and his agent will say “see”).

The reffing was too inconsistent for my liking. Missed some blatant calls and made some calls that had my head shaking.

Other than the first, they matched or were slightly better 5on5. Some bad decisions and sloppy play. Way too many bad penalty calls. Not too upset.

Put me solidly in the camp of wanting to see more of the ex-Oilers.

More Lucic, more Rieder. Even give Rittich a breather against the Canucks and give Talbot a shot--nothing against Rittich tonight, he was excellent.

Frolik, Janko, Czarnik, Brodie and the refs all need to be replaced.

Frolik would clear waivers...Flames need to upgrade the 2nd line

Flames got better as the game went on, almost tied it up, evened up the shots despite the terrible reffing

Meh, whatever. Flames never win the first game of the season, so I'm not too broken up about this.

I really liked the response from the team after the 1st period and all the penalty trouble. I thought the guys skated hard and generated plenty of chances over the remaining 2 periods and could have easily won this game.

Rittich was in top form tonight. He's gonna be great for us this year.

Looch had a solid game as well. He seems to have more speed than Neal and actually plays a smart game for the most part. And that face punch was glorious.

The PP was good.

Meh.

There was some good, a lot of ugly, and yet another season opening loss.

There is zero chance the flames would make it past 5 games again this season against this avs team.

Rittich, individually the d, were really good.

Offensively, other than the pp, i thought frolik, Backlund, Jankowski, czarnik, ryan were beyond useless.

Peters came into Calgary with no hesitation and changing lines based on who he felt is clicking. I feel like he's toned this down a ton, which sucks.

After that one it’s tough not to think about how much more I’d like this team with Zucker and Kadri in and Brodie and Frolik out.

Frolik was bad!! So so so bad!

I am actually fairly happy with that performance. They showed tenacity, they didn't wilt and give up, they got better as the game went on. Honestly I am ok with that loss. I feel like they were the better team for the last 30 minutes of the game.

I can understand people being disappointed in the loss. However CGY playing against a good opponent in their home opener. COL was going to be good out of the gate. As the game went on CGY got a lot better. However even in third you could see they still need to get more in sync, in rhythm with each other.

But that is actually encouraging. They can be so much better and they almost overcame a lot to come all the way back.

People will over react and be too negative but that’s what you get. Hopefully CGY takes all the positives I saw they started to generate.

Get the next one!

Frolik got dumber as the game went on, which was amazing as he started off awful.

It’s quite something how much those non-trades sting after just one game.

That second line needs an upgrade or the Flames are not gonna make any noise this season. Waive Frolik dude is done.
