Nice. I just read an article on the Sun that his contract was up this year.
Big fan of Treliving. Hopefully another extension comes down the line.

It's important that a GM is given a long leash and is provided with some stability so I like this move. You want a guy that is trying to win this year, but also has the future in mind.
It doesn't seem like it, but Treliving is among the top 10 longest serving GM's currently

He signed an extension in May 2017, which likely concludes at the end of this season (17/18, 18/19, 19/20). So this new extension takes him through 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023.

I think Treliving had an iffy summer, but overall he has been a GM and I think he is improving on a year-to-year basis.
There is value in having continuity in the General Manager position. There's more consistency in how the players are drafted and developed.
The longest tenured GMs in the league are in Nashville, San Jose, Anaheim, Chicago, and St. Louis.
Those have basically been the most consistent teams in the west.

I've heard from multiple people that Murray Edwards has a great relationship with Brad. Unless Brad does something terrible to ruin the franchise I think he's going to be in Calgary for a long time.
