A couple years ago, I liked Karnaukhov at the prospect camp. Seems like he has some skills, and good hockey IQ. I hope he come back and play some game ahl.

He's 22 so the book isn't written on him yet, but it seems like he has floundered in the KHL so far.

I voted Valiev this round, but I don't have any idea who to vote for after this. I'm not voting McKenna because he isn't even Flames property. Foo might still be Flames property, but he'll be 27 by the time his KHL deal is done. I know almost nothing about the other remaining players.

I think I'm voting for Kirkland after this, then Mattsson

After Valiev, I think I have to go:
Nielsen and Kirkland since they're both signed to NHL contracts, which is more than the rest of the group will likely ever see.

McKenna next because he's the most-likely of the rest to earn an NHL contract.

After that, I guess I'll go Karnaukhov then Foo just because Karnaukhov is younger and could decide to give North America another try. I don't know if playing 2 or 3 seasons with one of the worst teams in the KHL will be good for Foo's development.

Mattson was a 20 year-old freshman last season and still couldn't crack the lineup most games. He played less than half of Michigan State's games last season and still hasn't scored his first college point. I hope he's getting a good education because I don't think professional hockey is in his future.

Here’s my order

Valiev this time
Foo next round, if he lights up the KHL for a season or two we could always bring him back.
Nielsen, most voters probably don’t know he had a 39 point season in 74 games as a 20 year old out of junior after a point per game season, but has regressed the last two seasons. He could potentially bounce back.
Kirkland, not great AHL production but has had 3 years down there and is only 22 years old.
Karnaukhov, wouldn’t write him off yet, most likely stays overseas but he could always come over. Not great stats over there though.
Mattson, quite possibly one of the worst prospects we’ve ever had.

Won’t vote McKenna as he is not a flames prospect. If rafikov was on the list I’d have him ahead of Mattson.

Rinat Valiev. At least he'll see a few call-ups.

I don't think the remaining players will ever get a sniff in the NHL.

Foo was underwhelming in his second pro season in Stockton. Not sure he'll fare much better in the KHL.
