I'm in love with fat burger. Out of all the burger joints I can drop restaurant prices at in Victoria, It's #1 followed closely by Big Wheel. I think Big Wheel compares directly to smash burger as they smash their patties as well and have a solid crust on the patty. We're supposed to be getting a Smash Burger out here really soon so it may get some competition.
But for me, Fat Burger has amazing fries, their XXL burgers are to die for. Theres just something about the whole package that just works for me. The buns are good, the meat tastes great and their relish has me addicted.
If I ever get a chance to get to Carls' Jr. or Five Guys in Vancouver, I'll definitely give them a shot, but as far as reasonably timed and priced burgers go out here, It's either the massive chain's or Fat Burger.

Grassroots Burger is the same as NU. They just killed the sushi component as they said it slowed them down and they couldn't get lunch out quick enough for a downtown lunch clientele. They will be reopening Nu Sushi and Burger on Country Hills Blvd.
I had Grassroots last week. Good burger but same problems as Nu. A little overpriced, a little undersized (patty and fry portions), and still quite slow. Would definitely go back as its close to my office and there isn't many others options, but not somewhere I would go out of my way to eat at.

Dairy Lane is over-rated.
Naina's is great. We rated it #1 in the old Burger Quest days but it is not traditional take-out because you have to call ahead or wait a long time.
So in their category - I agree, Five Guys rules.

The Best Burger in Calgary
Help, CP!
I owe a lunch to our receptionist, who loves burgers and fries. Which restaurant, would you suggest, makes the best burger/fries combo in Calgary not too far from the Chinook Centre (I would prefer NOT to get it at a fast food joint, like McDonald's or Wendy's). It would have to be a take-out, btw.
Mods, please don't move this to the Food thread, as it won't get noticed there. Feel free to delete it though in two days. Thanks.

Went to Peter's for the first time in about a year. Food was the same, but the prices took a steep increase. What was once a $3.60 cheeseburger became $4.70. Passed on the shake. What used to have 'cheap but good' as their appeal is now competing price-wise with the big boys. It will be a long while before I head back there.
For that price, if I wasn't already in the lineup, I would have hit Boogie's down the street.

Had a burger at regrub on 11th Ave - nice joint and good burger. They cooked the egg perfectly, beef had a good taste and the bun was great. Highly recommend

It looks like Naina's Kitchen has moved from its industrial park location to 17th Avenue, just west of the Elbow River Casino. Today was their first day at the new location.

Could become a new pre-game hotspot.

I'm pretty pumped - just three blocks from my place. I've been too lazy to check them out in their old location but have heard nothing but good things about them. Hopefully between this and the Mill Street Brewpub opening soon the east end of 17th starts picking up. Nice to have some new options in the area.

For anyone who misses the old Alley Burger food truck, they have opened a window on the westside of the Simmons Building. Had one yesterday and it was delicious!

Just make sure you get a stuffed burger. You probably have to wait a while as they take longer to cook, but they are worth it.
The relative lack of Juicy Lucys in this town is an outrage.

So, I am thinking of making my own stuffed burgers at home. Any recommendations for filling distribution or patty size to make it work out well? Should the fillings just go into a heap in the center or is it better to have some small pockets distributed around?

I had the stuffed burger at Naina's the other week (first time visit) and it was great. Very filling.
Has anyone tried a regular (non stuffed) burger there? Are they just as good?
