So a morally sound, loving human being who is an atheist will burn in hell for not believing in god.
But Jeffery Dahmer if able could have repented his sins and then basked in the glory of heaven for eternity?
Do I have that right? Does that not sound absolutely diabolically mad?

I guess I just don't understand how a God who is supposed to be benevolent can look upon somebody who extols all the virtues of what a 'good Christian' is supposed to be; but because of not believing he would damn them.

A sad loss for those of us still looking to move society out of the dark ages of believing in deities.
Nevertheless his body of work remains, and will inspire others. The walls of ignorance surrounding theism are being pushed ever further back. Eventually a tipping point will be reached, and he'll be remembered as one of the great revolutionaries of our age.
We know he rests in peace.

Is there any evidence of somebody going to hell for a period of time then coming back to Earth and documenting their experiences? Heaven?
It's quite something to believe in an idea just because a group of men in the middle East decided to write a book hundreds of years ago.
I find religion absolutely fascinating.

I find it sad and telling you jumped into a thread about his death to share with us that opinion.
Its like reading all the comments on CNN´s story of his death from Xtians, really classy stuff.
But since you did...
Your frightened?
That]s whats truly sad, you are going to live your whole life fearing and hoping you are good enough to win your particular God's acceptance, he wants your obedience and love after all and is oddly very emotional like a human and not a divine being.
There is something quite disturbing to me being someone like you who imagines an all powerful being who's male, is spiteful, very sensitive to blasphemy, is utterly OK with genocide and claims to love you only of course if you are obedient and fully observe his contradictory laws and books.
You'd make a great North Korean citizen I think.

You know, I was really hoping, the fairy tale club, would have enough respect, to realize that:
A) Preaching in this thread is entirely inappropriate.
B) Would likely be against the dying wishes of the man.
In a way, it kinda makes you similar to the Westboro people. Raiding someones tribute, with your unwanted rubbish.
Alas though, you couldn't stay away with your completely irrelevant comment. I had my hopes up after almost making it to the end of page 2, but nope, religion just couldn't resist.

I would think Hitchens would enjoy the debate in his death thread. It is, after all, the legacy of a man who never turned away from a good argument.
There's a video on Globe & Mail.com right now titled "Don't Pray For Me" with Hitchens talking.

Hitch dies. #GodisNotGreat trends. Religious people threaten violence. Twitter yanks trend. I think Hitch just won a debate post-mortem.
