Day one of the Priddis Cup...
The match of the day saw Slava (and some other dude) up against Enoch and his partner, and - while a good time was had by all, (which is the point) - the match was decisively won by Slava, who played beautifully. He smoothed it out there, all day long, with great tempo and control, and when he needed a big shot, he had it in the bag. It was a solid display of golf.
It was great to watch you play well today Slava, and I tip my cap to you, my friend.
However, tomorrow is another day!

Thank you! That was a fun day, and I look forward to Sunday (assuming that materializes!)

Day 2 of the Priddis Cup...
Order was restored to the universe.
But it's all about the singles matches on Day 3 anyway.

If Slava is anything like his soccer team, he'll stick around but come short of any trophies.

Oh believe me, no one is putting my golf game in any "premier league" of any sort! I'm the Tranmere Rovers of golf, if that.
It would be a huge improvement for me to have a lead for 248 days including an 8 stroke margin, only to come crashing back to earth in the biggest bottle-job in history!

Anyone have a RH driver kicking around that is relatively modern? Just broke mine and haven't been researching clubs or deals yet.

Ive been looking at the PXG Gen6 Driver. Really good reviews and cheaper then a new mainstream name brand.

played down at Lee Creek yesterday. hit the best shot of my life on the elevated Par 4 number 17. Hit it to 8 feet and made the putt for eagle. next hole, drove it into the trees. sounds about right. Course was in great shape, hidden gem

Played my first time at Mickelson last week. Underimpressed. Course was unevenly maintained and the greens were just bad.
Designed by a lefty for sure though.

I agree. I have played three rounds there and it just doesn't do it for me whatsoever.
At $160 per round for a public golfer - it's well down the list of places to play. Very little interest in going back.

Weird comments. Some issues with the maintaince being a new course I’ll give.
Greens are the best I’ve played in Calgary this year easily.

They were marked a lot and the cups were actually uneven and scarred.
For me, the greens in Redwood, Pinebrook, Darcy Ranch and even River Spirit where I've played over the last month were all better. Redwood is much harder to stick but once you are on, it's as smooth as any greens I've played. They were even better at Kananaskis. Also Radium Springs but that's to be expected, given their climate I guess.
Cost wasn't an issue - I was a guest. But I play a fair number of expensive places and that's not the factor I look at at all.

Welp, the time has come... the next time I post a score, the best round I've ever played will no longer be counted in favour of my handicap. It is a full 3 shots better than any other round currently counting against my handicap (and even that one disappears in 5 more rounds, as well).
Pray for me.

This happened to me yesterday and my index jumped up 0.8. It's tough, because I didn't really play that bad and earlier this year I would've been pretty happy with that round.

Jumped up 0.8 or jumped up to 0.8?

I wish! Jumped up by 0.8. I was steadily declining this year until that.

I actually shot an excellent round yesterday that was an even lower score than the round it replaced... but I was a single joining two others who wanted to play from the whites, and I always accede to whatever the group I'm joining wants to do in that regard so I hit hybrid off the tee a bunch. The result was that the differential was 5 shots worse than my actual score and it didn't actually help much in the end. Brutal.
On the plus side my new higher handicap actually is more representative of my skill level.

On Friday night my course in Nanton held it's annual Night Glow golf tournament. Dinner at 7:00 followed by 9 holes of golf starting at 8:30PM. We had close to 60 members including guests playing.
The highlight of the night was member Jeff Robinson scoring a Hole in One on the 8th hole.
The lowlight goes to a young member in our group named Clayton. We finished putting on the 8th and headed to the next tee box. Clayton is busy talking with his buddy and forgets to turn on his flashlight so he can see where he's walking. Walks off the green and steps into a sand trap where he ends up doing a face plant. Clayton was okay but quite embarrassed by what he did.
