Weak return compared to what was needed for Boeser during the the sweepstakes a few weeks ago. Especially with cap coming back. I know my offer was better than this and no cap coming back. I vote no. I think he should be shopped again.

Used Dylan Strome deal as similar gauge. Similar players. Boeser with a down yr.
Dylan Strome from a month ago.
Valimaki = Valimaki
1st (DAL) 22' < Khakonen IMO. AHL goalie of the yr.
2nd (TOR) 22' the adder. Helps make up for cheese sent
Deal went like this:
- I asked about a deal around Valimaki and Boeser
- Counter from LA was Valimaki + Khakonen as he doesn't have a top notch goalie prospect
- he also asked for a Bennett/Dubinsky swap. I offered a 2nd (TOR) 22' as dubinsky doesnt have a rating and told him his best option was to buy out dubinsky. Also asked for some cheese back as I need a goalie to replace Khakonen
Based on the above, I think it's fair.

Whether the return is weaker compared to a few weeks ago or not isn't the issue. It is whether the deal is fair.
IMO 2 blue chip prospects and a 2nd is a fair deal for a guy who had 40pts and 16 goals.
Strome produced better and plays a more important position and I think my return is better.

Unaware of the sweepstakes.
I don't mind the two players involved coming the other way. The Kings lacked a goaltending prospect of merit.
If the cap coming back and the pick were revisited, how far is that from acceptable? Or is it better to simply put him on the block and let capitalism reign? I wasn't really shopping him, which is why I didn't field offers.
I'm still getting a handle on values.
Valimaki, Kahkonen changing the 2nd to a 1st is closer? Cap gone?
Probably should have asked some questions, so that's on me. I don't think that it's that far off from where it should be, perhaps some tweaking. Boeser is better than Strome IMO, but I wasn't aware of that trade either.

Personally I don’t think it’s a fair return and that is why I said no. I think that Boeser had much better value than Strome but that is personal opinion.
However I feel the outside of that another reason for rejecting should be to teach the new GMs the importance of shopping key assets league wide and maximizing return. To me that is why we implemented this voting process.
I am 100% fine if this deal passes and the majority think it’s great. Personally I just don’t feel the value is there.
Just my two cents and I am ok with whatever happens.

If folks think the issue is cap, I'd consider lessening that part. I would argue that any cap savings as of today are worth more than even one month go. Most folks' rosters are set so it is more difficult now finding cap space.
I would not change out the 2nd to a 1st.
If there are GM's that will pay what works out to 3 1sts, of which I think 2 of those are blue chip, then I agree he should be shopped.
Re Strome and Boeser. I think they are close. My return is higher because Boeser likely has a bit more value, but hard to argue Strome's production and Top 5 draft pedigree. And two vet GM's agreed to that price where there was consensus in the league it was fair.

I think most GMs are in the same boat this year.

At the very least I think there should be no cap moving in the deal. I would probably vote yes if that was the case.

I don't hate the deal. Don't like it enough to vote yes though.
I also wouldn't label Kahkonen as a blue chip prospect just yet. But again...see my last post.

I'm on the fence. It ain't bad, but it ain't great. it really hinges on Valimaaki. And there is risk there given lost development time, where as Boeser is a proven scorer.
My issue is the 2022 pick is just so far away.
Make it a conditional 2021 2nd that must be pick 42 or higher (mid-way through 2nd) and that to me balances it out.

I think it should be a 2021 2nd and I don’t see the need for cap being included in the deal.

No cap and a 2nd 21 and this deal should go through.
