Even assuming this is true, someone will see their role taken away. It might be Tkachuk or Lindholm taken off PP1, and then Neal taken off PP2. Suddenly you can't recoup any value for a James Neal who was starting to get a rhythm going on PP2. Or Suddenly Lindholm stops grossly overperforming his contract, which is a huge part of our success. If Lindy is back to a 45 pt forward with a reduced role, suddenly he's a glorified Frolik.
I don't think it's as simple as "add a great player and the team is unstoppable". Ice time is finite.
To be a great team you need players overperforming their contract cap hits. Right now we have five PPG players on the team, and we won't have six if we just add Stone.
Now am I pro Stone? Yes; I just think expectations have to be measured for what kind of impact he can make.
