Tre is in on everyone and everything.
I was briefly considering trading this delicious Boston Cream doughnut and somehow I got a call from Brad...
Now I have half a red crayon and a shiny penny from 1957.

Not in comparison to a player of Rakell's quality. A 25-year old versatile winger (drafted center) with multiple 30 goal seasons. Similar stats to Monahan the last couple seasons prior to this one. Not playing center and his awesome contract probably put his closest comparable to Lindholm. If Tampa offered their 1st round pick and a fourth liner who can PK, and might end up a third liner, for Lindholm we would laugh at the value. So would the Ducks if a 1st and Jankowski was offered for Rakell.

I didn’t say the value was equal, just that it had value.
But you overate Rakell to some degree, he’s not at Monahan’s and Lindholm’s level.

LeBrun's 31-team Buyers and sellers:
https://theathletic.com/811876/2019/...rade-deadline/
Summary for the Flames:
Depending on cost could add top-9 forward and a 3rd pair d-man
Once Flames found that the price for Ferland would involve a 1st, they decided to pass until further notice.
Flames aren't flaunting their 1st but would move it for Stone
His opinion: Flames should look at Nyquist or Johansson

Sure, they have value. So does a 7th round pick. It's relative though, compared to Rakell the value is not close at all.
Prior to this year he had 33 and 34 goal seasons and was an All-Star. His contract is 3.8M for the next 3 seasons after this. A bad season doesn't expunge that when he's 25 and the entire team is playing like trash.

Looks like it's going to be a good trade, or no trade. There is some urgency to commit to this year with Tkachuk's raise coming up and Gio getting older, but it's not like the team is being threatened with losing key players to free agency and has to go all in now. I think Brad is playing it smart.

I think this is going to be a big week for our goaltenders.
If Ritter Struggles, Smith stinks. I can see Tre using that 1st for shoring up the goalie situation over getting Stone/Simmonds ect.

Or find a way to package a player/goalie for the 1st +
Just an example (not suggesting this as a possibility)
Stone + Nilsson from Ottawa for the Flames 1st + +
or Ferland + Mrazek, etc.

Devils claim former Calgary Flame Kenny Agostino from the Habs. per Friedman
Had 2g 9a in 36 games this season
This will be Agostino's 5th NHL team since turning pro in 2013
Shero drafted Agostino so probably going with his Pen connections there.

Wilson is suggesting Jankowski, Czarnik, 2019 first-round pick, 2020 second-round pick and Kylington for Stone, using the Karlsson deal as a template
not to mention a number of deals after the season in order to free up the cash to resign Stone...

That’s too much to pay for a rental, if he was signed that’d be fair.

Not a bad deal if they have him signed to an extension when the deal is done, but doing that deal and hoping they get him signed in the off-season is ridiculous. I wouldn't trade more than a 1st and a mid-range prospect if he's only a rental. They could structure the deal if the Flames re-sign him then the Flames add another 1st round draft pick.

Seems mighty rich for a rental. And Stone is really really good but not at a Karlsson level for his position. SJ also got Karlsson for an entire year (on a good contract) so there was additional value there. They also got a decent prospect in Perron.
I'd suggest the E. Kane template myself, though Stone is obviously better.

Karlsson had a full year on his deal when traded, while Stone is for this year only, so I feel the price should be less.

presumably, you could tweek that deal so some of it is conditional based on resigning...
like making the 2nd or Kylington conditional on Stone resigning for example...
but he goes into a number of other roster moves that would need to be done in order to free up cap space if Calgary tries to resign Stone.
needless to say, there's a lot of other things that would need to be done in order to have the space to resign him

Never heard of a conditional player being on a trade. Would probably make Kylington feel like crap, especially if Stone didn’t end up re-signing with the Flames.
