Did he just arrive in Calgary from somewhere, and tested positive? Or has he been here for a while now?

I'm grateful they're handling this as they are . We have some good depth to play with.

As long as these guys stick to what they were doing prior to the pause (second in scoring in the league) after the AS break were good.

I like our defense and the adds made by BT. Sucks about Dube however....i like his engine....he reminds me of where eqt bread WAS ....and now WOW I'm impressed by his ascension . Smart ####ing hockey player .

I believe he was among the first group to start practicing at the Dome a few weeks ago.

hmm, that's concerning. If you're right, and the positive testing is true, probably means we'll see a few more come through.

This is correct.

Himself, Phillips, Gio, Stone & Janko were the first "group" on the ice together quite a few weeks ago now.

Really getting the feel from various comments that the Flames are taking the tourney quite seriously and are motivated for it. Other rosters might have a flakier attitude because of the situation surrounding it. This is where you want all your 'character' pick ups to pay off.

Gustafsson getting a full camp with the team could help him settle into an important role here and be that PP producer. I've found so often that deadline rentals don't really gain traction with new teams in such a short window, but this practice time may give them the opportunity to mesh him with the PP and get more of his offensive game.
I'd add Rasmus Andersson to that won't go down without a fight group as well. Guy hates to lose.

Dont't know what possessed 2020 Backlund but he hates to lose too.

I don't think I'll forget that performance of his in Nashville.

Dube has been in town for quite some time. I'm honestly not sure if he ever left.

This is likely why the different sizes in the two groups. First group people who had exposure to Dube since his last negative. Second group people who haven't.

Obviously this isn't good news. But it's also how this process is supposed to work. Potentially all the guys who were exposed could still test positive and have time to recover and get two negative tests and enter the bubble. Players aren't "supposed" to catch covid but in teams that have initial outbreaks thats why they are brought together now to be cleared to enter the bubble in a couple weeks.

Alot of skeptics will say this is why this will never get off the ground but to me this is exactly how they need things to work to be able to get everyone on the team testing negative in time to enter the bubble and then from that point risk of exposure is extremely low.

Cases were expected for this portion.

Not really much of an argument for the told you so/shut it down crowd. Guys were flying in from everywhere, hard to imagine there not being initial break outs.

Next three weeks is when you let the virus run its course. Just have to make sure positive testers are doing the full 14 days or at least until they're not a threat.

In edmonton mainly just have to worry about the couple hundred active cases in the area that they'll be pretty well cut off from. They'll be about as safe as you or I living out our day to day in yyc, with many extra measures.

It's crazy to me though how you can be like that ALL the time. God that must be tiring. Meanwhile, I'm watching it unfold and thinking:

Gio and Tkachuk do have lots of GAF. But I actually feel like Treliving has prioritized GAF in his drafting. Andersson, Mangiapane, Dube, Valimaki, Phillips, and Pelletier all come to mind as ppl with lots of GAF.
