Andersson had 3 assists and was +8.

Great numbers for Andersson but not so off the charts great as he did against weaker opposition that the Flames were kicking around.
Just hilarious. Even in your own breakdown which shows an excellent overall performance by a second-year NHL defenseman the best you can muster is "not so off the charts great."

I think this says everything about whether or not you should be taken seriously. Andersson is an stellar defenseman who was playing the best hockey of his life when the season was stopped. Flames fans are excited about this.

You know that pretty much EVERY player has better stats against bottom teams than top teams right? That's the thing with stats, you take ALL the numbers so that the idiosyncrasies average out.

But keep digging, you'll find something.

Pretty much yes. No matter what the fancy stats say if a D-man put up a lot of pts and has a great plus minus the guy with the pts and plus-minus gets paid more makes the all star teams

Gio's +39 last year got his his the Norris Trophy ... you arguing that?

There is no accidental lucky way to get a +39

Merrill dominated the SAT and USAT % in 2019. 3 goals 15 pts +16 no votes for the Norris.

Notice you did not call out in the same manner:

Andersson's +10 even-strength goal differential over the final 14 games of the season was the best on the team. Mangiapane was a +9, Backlund, Gaudreau, and Tkachuk were all +5, and Hanifin was the second-best d-man at +4.

So you agree then that Andersson's fantastic numbers illustrate his talent level!

Great, let's move on.

So you are comfortable with setting Andersson's expectation's to having A 40 PT +56 season next year and being in top-3 for the Norris which is what a +56 will get you.

Off the charts great are what Gio was last year.... Andersson appeared to be off the charts for the last 14 games when beating up bad teams but just pretty good for a 2nd year player against playoff teams.

I honestly don't get your point (no change there). So you are saying 3 assists and +8 in 5 games against non playoff teams is amazing but 1G 3A and +2 in 9 games against playoff teams is atrocious?

Those both seem like pretty solid numbers in a small sample size to me

The dude was literally leading all defensemen on the team in nearly every metric in that same stretch but 4 points and + 2 in 9 games against good teams is your argument for why he isn't actually that good?
