A main sewer line break occurred yesterday in the town of Cochrane, causing an overland sewage discharge that flowed into the Bow River at the Highway 22 bridge.
Thanks, Cochrane.

Loe said that, as of Sunday morning, only "minimal flow" of sewage was reaching the Bow River.

She said couldn't estimate how much sewage reached the river before it was diverted.

Uhm, well that's ####ty. I filled up a couple 10 litre jugs last night when the emergency alert sounded, just in case.

Hopefully Cochrane gets fined and put through the ringer about their pipeline integrity program as anyone else would with a failed pipeline.

Only if you normally drink straight untreated water from the Bow River. Those people should fill up their water jugs further upstream.

I had a few drinks last night, and the warning about #### in our water flashed on our tv screen. Not being a fan of having to go buy bottle water, and as a precaution I figured it wouldn't hurt, should the morning news be even ####tier. It wasn't, so now it's bonus water, I guess.

It seems no one else panicked as I did. In my defense, the screen background was red. Plus, you know, drinks.

If I am going to buy any beverage as a replacement to tap water, it would probably just be beer. I think you could adapt most recipes to work with it.

My brother tried making KD with beer. it was not good. The snuff garnish didn't help.

I’m gonna guess the company that managed to break the sewer pipe was Calgarian. Or Edmontonian.

Furthermore, we’re not even close to finished with you. We’ll keep on parking at Crowfoot LRT and riding in on the train we didn’t contribute toward.

Plus, all people coming into MacKay’s for ice cream from Calgary will now be subject to a sewage infrastructure repair surcharge.

It’s how we roll.

COVID and the RSV thread sort of proved that wasn’t going to happen.

Screen colour and booze will do that though.

Advisory: Water Supply - Cochrane

Issued Oct 24, 2023 at 11:01 AM

Description: Cochrane water remains safe to drink. Water reservoirs have reached a critical state. This impacts our ability to provide water to the community and ensure the required water resources to support emergency fire suppression, if required. If water consumption continues at the current levels, we anticipate that some communities may soon be without water.
https://www.alberta.ca/alberta-emergency-alert.aspx

Just an advisory, though! I've still got a 10 litre jug if you Cochrane folks get desperate.

On the other side Of Calgary, commercial property that used to have an RV Park, is getting substantial help to re-open in 2024...

Apparently, the problem is that some of this assistance was not brought to Council for decision.
