iPhone 5 and 6
So apparently the iPhone 5 is coming out in October and then the iPhone 6 sometime in 2012 (first half).
Link
What are your guys thoughts?
Having an iPhone 4 myself, there really isn't anything that I need more from an iPhone.
Also note that the change from 4-5 won't be too drastic but for iPhone 6, there will be significant hardware overhauls.

I'll wait to hear it from Apple themselves, but this is the worst possible news for me, as a 3G owner, who desperately needs a new phone this summer.

I can think of two things I would want; and can sum them up with one word: Flash.
Both for the camera and web browser.

There are a different set of rumours that come out almost daily...
The analyst in the link is just presenting his own opinion of when the refresh will occur. Until you start to see a consensus of opinion between all these guys, it is not worth planning around.

Have you read the Gospel of the HTC Desire? It's very life changing.

Not gonna happen (for the web browser). Adobe's already waved the white flag.

I don't buy that the cycle will be less than a year, but then again I also was pretty sure that the cycle wouldn't break from a summer release schedule. The iPhone 4 is a fantastic phone and at first glance I can't say for sure what it's really missing. Better camera, fix the antenna issue that nobody seems to care about and make it faster. It isn't like the days of the 3G and the 3GS when there was glaring omissions (compass, strong camera, HD video etc.)
The way adobe is bending I think having flash on the iPhone is becoming less and less of a need. I've been flashless on my mobile devices for 3 years and I've cursed its absence probably 4 or 5 times. Any site worth anything has adapted to work on the platform already.

Especially after you see the performance of Flash on a high end device like the playbook.
All reviews have Flash as clunky and slow on the Playbook, and that is higher end hardware than any smartphone.

These analysts don't just put a finger in the air - they have contacts in Apple's supply chain that feed them information.
All signs are pointing to a fall release of the iPhone 5...the iPhone 6 rumor is new though I can't see Apple releasing a new iPhone so soon after the 5

If its anything less than dual core its a fail.
Most new phones are going to be dual core 1.2-1.4 ghz processors.
I dont think it will get a lot of the features phone people want still. I mean they didnt add them to the 4, why the 5 or 6?

I'm not so sure I agree with that statement. Dual core processing, or the appearance of dual core processing, is something that is not all too often taken advantage of by developers. So sure, it might be there, but does it have much of a point? No.

I'm curious to know what features Apple left out in the iPhone4 that people were wanting?

While I agree that they have contacts somewhere, the accuracy of their predictions hovers only slightly higher than Eklund's. I agree that a fall release for the 5 seems to be corroborated by numerous sources, this is the first hint of an early release of the 6. Correct me if I am wrong, but apple has never had a refresh under a year for the iPhone.
I would bet we see the 5 this fall (Septemberish), and the 6 back inline with their June/July release at the earliest for 2012. It just doesn't make sense to release the 5, which is stated in the article to be a small upgrade, and then less than 8 months later release the 6, which is said to be a bigger upgrade.

Why would you need to remove the battery? It's not a Blackberry.

Are you telling me that you have never had to re-charge your phone in the middle of the day? Sometimes you can't leave your phone tethered to a plug for 60-90 minutes; like for me on a recent trip to Florida. Both myself and a friend needed to recharge our phones on the plane, so we had to plug into my netbook.
Never mind the fact that I have seen iPhones that needed a cold re-boot; so instead of having to google to find the magic sequence to force a restart, it could be a little more intuitive like removing the battery.

I agree that there are very few big adjustments that could be made. I am waiting for when the phone also becomes the home laptop (like the Atrix). I think that's the next step.

You mean the feature people have wanted in ALL of Apple's portable devices to date, but has yet to show up?
Yeah, I don't see that being something they're rushing to add any time soon.
