So I assume there are others here that make music, yeah?

What kind of gear do you use? What DAW(s) do you like? Plugins?

I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread for general discussion and newsposting.

Let's kick things off. Izotope has their excellent Mastering/Maximizing plugin Ozone Essentials available for free today:

https://www.pluginboutique.com/produ...one-9-Elements

Use the code "FreeOzone" at checkout.

You can crossgrade to Advanced with Nectar, Neutron 3 and Tonal Balance for ~$180 USD after grabbing that:

https://plugindiscounts.com/product/...le-crossgrade/

Or just do crossgrade to Standard for $83 USD at JRR with the code "group":

So I've been using Ableton Live 10 Suite for the last few months after using Audition and FL Studio 13 for the last forever, and it's been a huge revelation for me. Just an absolutely fantastic program for creative songwriting, but with all the feature and under the hood power to compete with Logic and Pro Tools (though no AAX support, if that's something you care about).

Current equipment:

Ableton Live 10 Suite
Focusrite Scarlett 212
PreSonus Eris 4.5 Reference Monitors
Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm Mixing Headphones

Can't Live Without Plugins:

ToonTrack Superior Drummer 3
Izotope Ozone 9 Advanced
Izotope Iris 2
Waves H-Series
Waves RBass/RAxxe
Valhalla Vintage Verb

I've been using Sonar for years (now Cakewalk by Bandlab) and love it. It is now free and has become very stable and solid with bi monthly updates and bug fixes. I started out with C-Lab Notator (pre runner to Apple Logic), then moved through the following in order T-dat, Logic, Cubase, Guitar Tracks, ProTools, Riffworks, Samplitude, Live and Sonar which is now Cakewalk. So I've used pretty much everything and find that they all have benefits and drawbacks.

If I was designing a DAW I'd combine the prochannel from Cakewalk with the junt feature from Riffworks which allows you to mute your guitar 4 times to come up with an immediate locked drumbeat and looped record mode. I'd take the editor from Wavelab, the clip launching from Live the rack setup from Reason and the drum editor from Cubase.

You've got a nice setup and we share a couple of pieces.

Current Equipment:

Cakewalk by Bandlab 2020.05
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
Behringer Truth 3031 A Monitors (ribbon tweeter)
Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro Headphones

Can't live without plugins and programs:

Guitar Pro 5 (use it to write songs and drum parts and then export midi drums to Cakewalk)
Izotope Ozone 4
Lexicon Native Reverb
Cakewalk Pro Channel
Maag Eq
Addictive Drums
Dune 2.0
Wavelab
Jammer Professional 6
Band In a Box
Riffworks Standard
Overloud TH3

Great to see someone else into music production.
