Rick Ball with the call in the Vegas v. Boston game. Awesome.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or is the difference in colour/tint between the close-up and wide angle shots in the Vegas game really noticeable?
Edit: Looks like they're fixing it a bit.

How come Rick Ball is doing the play by play for Vegas randomly, is he filling in for someone? Who is his colour commentary guy?

Because he is one of the best in the business. I would expect Ball to get more and more national assignments.

Watching Vegas for really the first time this season. Ice seems pretty bad.
Defensively they look better than expected. Engo in particular seems solid. Offense is a bit haphazard, not helped by the ice

Probably because it's easy to get to Vegas from Calgary, where he worked Friday's game (and he had Saturday off) and the Flames are off until Thursday, so he doesn't have anything to do until then. All their main PBP guys worked last night's games in Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Montreal, with Shorthouse calling the Flames-Nucks game.

I'm one of the people that thinks a Vegas expansion team was a stupid idea. Also pacific division, and the Bruins are my eastern conference team.

Fair enough, I enjoy Ball's work a ton, so good for him, I just hope we don't lose him as our main guy anytime soon to another market or something stupid.

Sorry dude, it's a divisional rival directly behind the Flames playing an Eastern team. I know it's early and pretty much pointless, but a win for Vegas puts them ahead of the Flames in the division lead. You pretty much need to cheer against them as a Flames fan right now.

The main camera in the Vegas game has a bluish tint. It looks like they're playing hockey in an aquarium.

How surprised would you be to find out that the Vegas feed looks fantastic compared to the SNET monstrosity?

it's like a brand new camera and they forgot to peel off the film that came with it.

Yeah I switched to the SN feed momentarily to listen to Ball. That didn't last long; the difference in picture quality is staggering

I don’t “need” to do any such thing. The Vegas Golden Knights when all is said and done are almost certainly not competing with the Flames for anything this year. They will not make the playoffs. There will be plenty of time to stoke fires of divisional rivalry in the future, but for now this is a good story, and I LOVE IT.

Maybe those injuries were a blessing in disguise for Vegas.
