Every year there is a friggin flicker who sits on top of our vent stack and bangs away on it. It’s especially off putting at 7am when you don’t need to be up!

Thanks woob. I like to think I've learned a bit since I bought my first DSLR (a Nikon D3100 with the kit 18-55mm lens) back in 2011. I couldn't have done it without the help of a LOT of people over the years since who were kind enough to answer my many many questions and provide invaluable guidance.
So much more to learn though. Its a never ending, as Treliving would say, "process".

aside from the ridiculous patience needed for wildlife shots, what lens you using? the sharpness is so hawt.

Thanks Inglewood Jack
Mostly a Sigma 150-600mm Sport f/5-6.3 with a Nikon D500
Sometimes a Nikon 70-200mm VR / f/2.8, usually with a 1.7x teleconverter attached.

This shot needs some explanation. I recently bought a 55-yr old Hasselblad Zeiss 500mm/8 lens and wanted to test it as soon as I had the box opened, which was really late in the evening. The lens is huge, heavy and uncomfortable. But it renders colours just beautifully, like all of those old Hasselglass lenses... The shot is a long exposure (52s) at a scene approximately 5 km away in a strong wind creating those weird light traces. I thought they were kinda cool.

Got back from a 4 day trip to New York City earlier this week, it was a fantastic trip with even better spring weather. The miles of sky scrapers & long streets are right up my alley with the extended vanishing points around each corner.

We're headed back in September, thinking I may limit myself to a single 35mm lens and see how being constrained to a single lens effects what I end up shooting.

Full set up on Flickr.
