Finally decided to play with an old set of k-rings that I was never brave enough to try with film.
Nothing special with these images but a fun perspective to try and learn. This ending up being a 20.8mm extension (K2, K3 & K4 - for some reason i can't get my K2 and K4 separated) with a 28mm Ai-s on a D7000
A sliver of DOF.

Speaking of narrow DoF, here's a macro shot from today.

Some pics of our recent trip to Israel. What a blast introducing all the inlaws and friends of our daughter and son-in-law to Christmas! The neighbors kids were in awe of the christmas tree they put up.
In-laws place, where we slept. The roof edge on the left is our daugters' place.
Nearby beach, about a five minute walk, at sunset.

Lovely!
So, did you need to use polarizers much at all while over there?

Thanks!
I don't know if I needed to but I bought one before I went over. Didn't use it all the time as it's the first time I've used a circular polarizer. It worked great on some and others I got uneven sky from not having the sun in the right position. Fun to play with though.

C-PL filters are really helpful in mitigating the effects of reflective surfaces and uneven light/shade. Bright sky shots are better mitigated by variable ND filters.

I recently purchased a 10 stop B+W ND filter. Pretty cool. Haven't had too much time to play around with it yet, but it's fun.

Ya, I realize that. I wasn't using it to mitigate bright skys but more to add contrast between clouds and the sky, which they do really well as long as the sun is behind you. When I'm walking around i don't want to carry and change multiple filters and the cp filters are handy with the adjustable ring. just have to be careful when using an ultra-wide as I got a few uneven skys when not paying close enough attention. Some nice results as well.

Oh, I see. I know exactly what you mean.
I keep a C-PL most of the time on all of my "working" lenses - 24-70/2.8, 70-200/2.8, 50/1.4. But not on 17-35 /2.8 for the reason you mentioned. Btw, if you screwed an otherwise good shoot by the uneven sky, it is not that difficult to fix in PS.

How did you manage to get the subject to 'pop' like that?

Wide open aperture (low f-stop) makes shallow subjects look sharper while blurring the background.

These are also a little more tweaked in post production (more than I would typically), but the client wanted his product to "pop".
Here's the EXIF from each photo.
