The second half of November is looking pretty rough. But glad that it’s not as coo-coo bananas as last year’s schedule.

Get the Vegas flu out of the way early. Both trips to Vegas done before US Thanksgiving.
A lot of road games to start the season. October: 9 road, 6 home. November: 8 road, 6 home.
17 games on the road and only 11 at home prior to US Thanksgiving. If they're in a solid position by then, things should look really good the rest of the way.
The Heritage Classic is the start of a five-game road trip.

10 days off over the All-Star break. Ugh.

What's with all the Saturday/Sunday back-to-backs? We have FOUR in the first two months of the season?

The Flames played Edmonton on 17 November and 9 December last year.

I welcome this. Challenge the team to come out of this break stronger than in years past. They know its been a struggle. They know they've been worse after the ASB in recent years. Point it out. Challenge them.

They don’t want to play us until their playoff hopes are mathematically eliminated.

Some interesting road trip opportunities for anyone who wants to see them away from home... - October 19 & 20, weekend trip to LA and Anaheim.
- November 16 & 17, weekend trip to Arizona and Vegas.
- January 13-18, all three Eastern Canadian teams.
- February 10-13, all three California teams the week before Family Day (is Teachers Convention still a thing that week?)
- February 29-March 1, weekend trip to Tampa and Florida.
- March 16-19, all three NYC area teams, including St Patrick's Day in Brooklyn.

Sooner or later this team is going to have to learn how to play after the break. If they have another season that flies off the rails after some time off, we’ll know that there’s something up with the mental fortitude of this core and a shakeup is called for. If they can manage to come back and not skip a beat then it bodes well for the playoffs.

I hadn't really paid attention to this before, but I'm surprised that the Heritage Classic isn't starting until 8:00pm.
Isn't that just asking for trouble? I assumed it would be starting in the afternoon to at least hope it would be semi-comfortable.

I generally agree, but "flies off the rails" is an exaggeration. The Flames were middle-of-the-pack for points gained after the ASG last year, but they were also top-ten in goals scored and goals allowed. They definitely slipped, and they need to be better, but it was far from a terrible second half.

I don’t think they were top ten in GF after the ASG. The NHL has them at 14th (still not terrible).
The real story after the ASG was their god awful power play. Second worst in the league, and their PK wasn’t much to write home about either.
