YASSSSS! In his second NHL game on February 1, 2006 against Columbus, Gio did wear the OG Blasty jersey.
He didn’t record a point, but he did get called for a 2 minute penalty on Jaroslav “Balastik”. Coincidence? I think not...

I just like the look. Sometimes you can do something simple and it comes out looking good. The thought of a yellow jersey makes me cringe. I would have been cool with the first two designs that AC posted but not the third one.

Yup, I remember looking for that exact info.
I was able to confirm which jerseys the Flames wore in 6 of Gio's 7 games that season but not the Columbus game.
Then found an image from that game (none of Gio wearing it though, but he's on the gamesheet as you mentioned):

Black and white outline on Tonal Horse, black and yellow outline on the Flaming C, red and yellow outline on the numbering and just a red outline on the captain’s ‘C’.
Is this just a way to use up spare parts?

The thing with using three colours on the lettering is it can get super busy when done wrong, almost to the point of being, at best, busy and ugly and, at worst, illegible from a distance.
The Boston Bruins' old home jersey is a prime example of this.

Just feels like a missed opportunity not to fix the letters/captiancy/numbers inconsistencies, and having white in both logos on the jersey, the letters, and the numbers but not on the jersey at all seems like a poor choice aesthetically, like it's breaking some rule of design. It resembles both Canucks black jerseys and Team Germany as a result.
Like I said, it's ok but I think just 2 small changes would have made it an 8-9/10 for me:

I actually just checked my Pro Player Blasty and Adidas opted to do satin stich edge on applique for the new crest instead of primarily embroidery. I think satin stich edging looks much better.

I like them, and I like that they took the chance with them. When it comes to details you won’t please everybody but overall when they play in them they’ll look good.
Coulda been a lot worse, like Edmonton obviously or Detroit or San Jose lol... at least Detroit kinda has an excuse because they’ve always had super simple designs. What was San Jose or Dallas doing? Drunk at the wheel those teams.
LA’s looks pretty neat. Islanders- I can’t really tell what’s different? Is it shade of blue?

St. Louis, New Jersey, NYR, and San Jose are my favorites. What's with none of the pictures clearly showing the Blackhawks logo? Really seems like we're not far from Chicago renaming the team completely with how little they're embracing the logo
