You guys suck. Plenty of ls shirts that are fine with shorts. Sleeves rolled or no. Frankly there is arguably no need for a short sleeved button down to exist at all... just roll up the sleeves. Especially linen but not exclusively or anything.

Phone typing is awkward. Also I can neither confirm nor deny these scurrilous allegations.

That being said, I still regret not buying the Naked & Famous 32oz superheavyweight denim when I had the chance. Good luck wearing through those suckers.

My thickest denim ever has been my 21oz Iron Hearts. I got lot of comments on how thick they looked. They share stretched out a lot. Can't imagine what an extra 11 oz would be like.

Feel free to dress however you want. Just be aware of what your fashion choices are communicating to other people.
And if you're wearing superhero tees in your 40s you might be saying something about yourself that you don't necessarily intend. Maybe ask someone that you trust what they think of your style choices and what it says about you. You might be surprised and not like what they have to say.

Unapologetically, nobody with any semblance of style, has ever owned;
Ed Hardy
Affliktion
Garments w/sequins
Denim, with excessive embroidery.

Maybe it's just that one incident that made me respond at all. I don't know.

You're also from Florida. The Edmonton of American States.
Of course you saw that.

Short sleeve button up shirts look ridiculous. Especially when worn with shorts.

It depends on how you wear it.
A LS dress shirt with shorts will look stupid.
A LS casual shirt with sleeves rolled up with shorts can look good.
A SS dress shirt tucked in with shorts or pants looks silly (reminds me of Homer Simpson).
A SS casual shirt untucked with shorts can look good.
These are all broad generalizations of course.

That Ed Hardy/True Religion look was definitely very popular in the Abbotsford area. Around the time the big gang wars were going on, everyone was trying to emulate that look. You do continue to see a lot of people in their late 30s or so still dressing like that. It's similar to how some people in the 1990s were still wearing 80s mullet hair cuts and cut-offs (non-ironically that is).
I do agree with the general statement that some people do need help with their style. There are limits to dressing how you want/what makes you feel comfortable.

ok - could someone post an example of the difference between a casual shirt and a dress shirt? It might sound dumb but I'm clearing not grasping the difference between them.
Casual shirt isn't a catch all for Tshirts, polos right?

When I made my post I was thinking casual short sleeve button down like this one, except with shorts, which I think is fine. I prefer simpler prints but you’ll often see these with all kinds of wacky prints or in plaid etc.
The type of shirt that is meant to worn untucked.
For a casual long sleeve with shorts I was thinking something like this, I prefer ones that can be worn untucked but it depends on your style.
Dress shirts for me typically are a little more formal looking, often thicker material and always must be tucked in due to the cut and fit.

In really depends who you talk to. This has already been mentioned, but in North America, some people just call all button up shirts dress shirts.
The term actually comes from British culture, where it only refers to shirts you would wear to dress up for formal occasions, and they would typically accompany a tuxedo.
In North America, in casual conversation, you would probably include any thing that you wear to the office or fancier as a "dress shirt".

Oxford is what most of us think of as a dress shirt. It's all about the fabric from what I can tell. Those thin white shirts for a suit are dress shirts, what most of us slobs wear to the office are oxford button downs.

Oxford shirts are considered casual.
https://m.thebay.com/polo-ralph-laur...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
Vs dress shirt
https://ca.suitsupply.com/en_CA/clas...tblue&pdp=true
Both shirts are similar in style in colour. However, notice how the Oxford shirt has button down collars vs a regular collar with collar stays. The Oxford material is also thicker cotton than the dress shirt.
Realistically, you can wear either style in an office in North America and to most people, they both look like "dress shirts". But as I was corrected earlier, if you truly want to give off a casual vibe, while still looking put together, go for the Oxford shirt.

Oxford cotton washes beautifully and the cotton itself gets very soft with age. They last a long time.

My general rule of thumb is that your tie should generally be darker then your suit.
