[GDT] Flames vs Stars - Friday Dec 5 @ 5:00pm (MST)
Adirondack Flames (12-9-1-0) vs Texas Stars (Dallas Stars) (7-6-7-0)
#16 - Mathieu Tousignant
Tousignant is an undrafted Centre signed to an AHL contract who has spent the past 7 years playing in the AHL and ECHL after finishing in the QMJHL. Tousignant is more known for his physical play then his points as in his 278 game AHL career he's amassed 28G, 38A and 437 PIM.
Game Notes: - This is the first of 2 meetings between the Flames and Stars this year. They will meet again April 1st
- The Stars (2014 Calder Cup Champions) are not the same threat as they were last season and no longer the powerhouse of the AHL. Currently, they have only won 1 game in their last 10.
- The Flames will look to bounce back from a 3 game losing skid.
- Last season, the Heat and Stars met 8 times with the Stars taking the season series 5-3 and outscoring the Heat 29-16 in those games. Three of those games saw one team scoring more than 7 goals in the game. References to a 1970's horror film were made repeatedly.
Roster Notes:- Markus Granlund (F), Sven Baertschi (F) and Michael Ferland (F) are up with the Calgary Flames.
- Corban Knight (F) was reassigned to Adirondack and will be in the lineup.
Standings:- Adirondack sits in 11th (out of 30 teams) in the AHL and 2nd in the North Division
- PP is 4th in the AHL at 21.9% (23/105)
- PK is 14th in the AHL at 82.3% (79/96)
- Ortio (G) is tied for 2nd in the AHL in wins (9), 3rd in the AHL for minutes played (909:25) and 5th for saves (424)
- Poirier (F) is 4th in rookie shooting percentage with 19.2%
- Hanowski (F) and Poirier (F) lead the team with 19.2% shooting percentage

Looks like Gillies, Reid, Ramage and Sieloff will be tonight's healthy scratches. Wolf is still an injured scratch (and Stevenson, Spurgeon)

I haven't been following the him much this year but is it surprising to see Sieloff as a healthy scratch?

The Flames have too many defencemen and not enough spots to play each of them every night. They carry 9 on their roster and most of them are rookies or have little experience so Huska rotates them in and out of the lineup. He'll probably sit 2 games, play 2 games as the rotation has been so far this season.

Very heady backhand pass to Vause by Tousignant. I'm loving this Vause kid. He's got skill for sure.
Scored versus his old team too.

Oh Flames are facing Anders Lindback. That should be an advantage for them.

Very nice. He seems like a real character if his Twitter account is any indication. Saying he went as a hockey player for Halloween for the 10th year in a row... I got a kick out of that. In Cranbrook, every boy goes as a hockey player at least once.

Man, this really doesn't look like the Stars team of last year. Where's the suffocating offense?

The sad part is that was barely a shot on goal and one of those things that just slid in.
It wasn't even that nice.

No MacKenzie, Sceviour, Mueller, Hedden, or Oleksiak.
Four of their top five scorers from last season are now with Dallas or elsewhere. That's going to leave a dent for sure.
...Not that I'm complaining. Screw the Stars.
