[GDT] Flames vs Griffins - Saturday Nov 29 @ 5:00pm (MST)
Adirondack Flames (12-7-1-0) vs Grand Rapids Griffins (Detroit Red Wings) (8-7-2-0)
That's what I like to hear from our young players!
Game Notes: - This is the first of 2 games between the Flames and Griffins. The second game will be played in March.
- The Griffins knocked out the Abbotsford Heat in the first round of last year's playoffs. 6 guys from that playoff team are currently on the Flames roster. (Reinhart, Hanowski, Ortio, Gillies, Hathaway and Poirier)
- The Flames have won 11 of their last 13 games, with the both losses coming against the Utica Comets. Griffins have won 5 of their last 7 games.
- Adirondack has not given up a PPG since 11/10. They have killed off 30 penalties in that time.
Roster Notes:- Josh Jooris (F), Markus Granlund (F), Sven Baertschi (F), Michael Ferland (F) and Corban Knight (F) are up with the Calgary Flames
- Devin Setoguchi (F) has arrived in Adirondack and should play
- Due to an optional morning skate, the lines and scratches are unknown.
- It appears Ortio (G) would start as Thiessen took part in the optional skate.
Standings:- Adirondack sits in 6th (out of 30 teams) in the AHL and 2nd in the North Division
- PP is 3rd in the AHL at 23.5% (23/98)
- PK is 13th in the AHL at 83.3% (75/90)
Point Streaks and Notables:- Culkin - 1G, 6A in 7GP
- Cundari 7A in 7GP
- Elson - 2G in 6GP
- Hanowski - 6G in 7GP
- Poirier - 5G, 5A in 11GP
- Ramage - 4A in 9GP
- Reid - 2G, 2A in 4GP
- Reinhart - 1G, 4A in 8GP
- Tousignant - 2G, 2A in 8GP
- Vause - 1G, 3A in 5GP
- Wolf - 2G, 5A in 10GP
- Wotherspoon - 2A in 4GP
- Baertschi - 3A in 3GP - Recalled by Flames
- Ferland - 3G, 5A in 5 GP - Recalled by Flames
- Granlund - 3G in 4GP - Recalled by Flames
- Knight - 4G, 2A in 8GP - Recalled by Flames
Injuries:- Sena Acolaste (Ankle) - Returned to practice, getting into game shape. Should be ready for action soon.

Sorry for the quick write up. Trying to get it done before rushing off to a couple holiday events for the kiddo this afternoon. Hopefully back in time to cover the game.

No need to be sorry at all. I find your write-ups and updates to be very thorough and accurate. I enjoy all these write-ups and the updates in each game thread. If I can't watch the game, I can count on a great update from your notes. Thanks for doing all this. It's very much appreciated.

Flames scratches: Reinhart, Stevenson, Acolatse, Agostino (injured), Wolf (injured). Agostino's 2nd game out. Wolf took a big hit last night

full house tonight

I was just told this is close to a sellout before walkup sales. And it looks like it, half an hour before the game.

Based on offensive play, I would have put Culkin on RW instead of Ramage.
But I'm also not a coach. Probably a reason for that.

PBP guy is saying this is a sellout. Standing room is even full.
Edit: PBP went on to say it's 3 lines deep into the concourse area for standing room. That full.

Interesting. I don't recall seeing Reinhart taking any big hits last night, although it was a physical game. He was playing hard right until the end of the game. I'm curious what got him.
I doubt it was due to play either. Huska was singing his praises in the 1st period interview last night. Saying the kid was skating well, doing all the right things, just waited to get that reward of a goal finally.

Flames confirming David Wolf is out with a head/neck injury. Reinhart is being called a healthy scratch, not an injury. Stevenson also a healthy scratch, Acolaste is still recovering from injury.
Starters:
Setoguchi-Vause-Hanowski
Wotherspoon-Potter
Thiessen
Griffins starting goalie is fresh from the ECHL. No GP for the AHL this season.

Judging by the crowd, I'm guessing some of the sellout is due to the fact it's the Griffins playing There's a number of Wings jereseys in that group.

Flames with a couple of good chances early on. No surprise, Vause and Hanowski at the centre of most of those. Hathaway with a good rush as well.

Stolen from Twitter, but a good shot of how full the building is:
Also shows the bit of Wings bias going on. I'd say 1/4 of the crowd in Wings gear.
