I think Smith will put in a solid effort against his former club.

I am not sure how that is relevant. David Rittich would also not have anything close to his present record were he playing for one of the lowest scoring teams in the NHL. The fact is Mike Smith plays for a great team. He should win tonight because of it.

A heads up that the game is on Sportsnet One and SN360. The West channel will join the game in progress once the Panthers-Canucks game is completed.

I like when Smith starts, offense is always flying because they know they have to score like 7 goals to win. I predict a 4 point night for Gaudreau

When the game begins, make sure to yell to him that the game's started.

I think the point is any almost any NHL goal tender would have a better record right now in Mike Smith's role.

Since last February he ranks 48th out of 50 goalies that have played more than 25 games...the two guys worse than him? A guy that was literally playing high on drugs and a rookie that may or may not have a career.

Smith isn't just a "whipping boy" "Flames fans so hard on goalies" he just isn't an NHLer anymore. Flames are taking a big risk every time he suits up...could really come back to bite them should the Flames not win the division and end up in a tough 2-3 match up in round one.

It is always hilarious when they pay Mike Smith to beat them

Flames would have 52 points if the other guy had the same winning percentage and would be a front runner in a dogfight for a wildcard spot or 3rd in the division.

Which would be pathetic considering how the rest of the team is performing. Wild Card team this season is nothing to write home about

If smith let’s in either 4+ goals, or 2+ soft goals he deserves all the ridicule this site will give him.

Odds are basically 50/50

Flames pretty much have to play with the mentality that they have spotted the opposition 3 goals and hope they can score 4 or more to have any chance of winning. Smith is just that bad right now.

I hope that the eagles win, that way Johnny will be happy and flying tonight. Taking my boy to the game for his birthday.

I hope the boys play well in front of Smith Tonight. Let him see the puck and clear rebounds .

He’s not terrible just going through a funk and needs our support . Equipment changes for him will do that. Not making excuses but he needs to think like Velcro.....be the Velcro.

We’ll win tonight and if we mail it in Peters needs to send a message somehow. We cannot always rely on our skill , we know we have skill but that work ethic is what wins important games .

Why don't we wait and see what happens first?

As a fan I hope players on my team succeed, not fail.

Coyotes are on a nice run and are 12-9-1 on the road. They are closing out a back-to-back but are facing an under-performing (yet winning) opponent with a bad (no-so-much-winning goalie. If I were betting I’d take the fat odds for the AZ win.
But I’m not betting, so Go Flames Go!
