Noticed that a Google Cloud sign has gone up by the main door.

Saw it on LinkedIn today - the street sign on the building. Looks like they are moving in if they haven't done so already.

Cool to see that Google has a presence in both major Alberta cities. That's positive for our province, even if only a minor presence.

Interesting. Guess the rumors are true.

Good for the development in general. I would love to know what rent they are paying...

Another great development from RNDSQR, they have really been killing it lately. Will be awesome for Bridgeland.

I was really surprised to see this break ground. It's an odd location, off of the main commercial strip (although will be awesome for grabbing ice cream and having a nice view of downtown and a park to hang out in). Also everything else proposed there, including some town houses had the crap NIMBYed out of it.

Al Devani recently did a podcast episode with Mike Morrison about his journey into RNDSQR. Great episode and worth a listen:

The owner of RDSQR also lives next door, so they probably already owned the land.

It is a bit off the main strip, but the I think the tenants are high quality enough to make it a destination for the neighborhood. Plus visual access to ice cream for the horde of kids during soccer season is going to put someone's children through college.

I love what RNDSQR has been doing in Calgary. I've been saying for a decade that there's space in this city for a developer to do small-medium sized buildings with a refreshing, creative architectural flair and design standard. Watching them contribute their fun projects to Calgary's built landscape is exciting.

Ohhhhhh. I was wondering how the house left all on it's own felt.

I'm glad he's doing a better job on this building than he did on his house

I reached out to them to do some work in Edmonton, they said the future is open to possibilities. Edmonton needs designs from companies like RNDSQR in the worst way.

Last night council voted 31-1 in favour of the proposed RNDSQR development in Inglewood:

Lets see who voted against it. Oh ya, Farkas, of course. For someone who claims not to like to waste money and time, he sure contributes to it.

Excellent. This is an impressive and high quality development for that community, and interacts with the street very well. The fact that it's on an important corner, will respect the heritage aspect of the CIBC building, and will replace the surface user car lot / eye sore makes it even better.

I live in Inglewood and am in favor of the development. RNDSQR has proven they are forward thinking and I feel they will deliver a great product. To some degree I understand the ICA push back against the plan but ultimately they are replacing a used car lot, which was an eye sore and regularly blocks pedestrian traffic on 12th street, and retaining the heritage aspect of the site with the CIBC Building.

I don't recall the ICA being so opposed to the new residential developments a block down. Granted they don't have the same height as RNDSQR Block but are just so cheap and awful to look at. They aren't heritage at all but not modern or forward thinking. The Torode/former Strategic development in particular is really bad.

That Torode building in Inglewood is one of the ugliest monstrosities ever designed and built in Calgary's history. The new residential building kiddie corner to it, too, is hideous. If this is the ICA's track record with approving projects in their neighborhood, I'm having a hard time taking them seriously as a credible organization with real vision.

Quality architecture, blocks from the new green line station, right on the pedesrtian main street - I can't think of any reson why this building is too high for that location.

It's been a few years since I lived in the neighborhood, but ICA meetings were always super entertaining. Carra was president when I first moved in. Lots of NIMBY-ism in the community combined with some pretty wackadoodle ideas. I always had the vibe that if you hadn't been there for 30+ years your opinion didn't count.

And yeah, that Torode building is brutal. The RNDSQR building is great in my opinion, will mix things up nicely.

Still my favorite neighborhood I've lived in, now that we are closing in on empty nest status we are certainly considering moving back.
