The whole team has been meh. If you exclude the occasional home run game from Hiller/Ramo it's pretty safe to say they are only as good as the team in front of them.

At this point why not start Ortio? The guy was solid last season before he got hurt and your other two vet goalies have been below average.
Also if we continue to not score we should consider breaking up the top line to get some balanced scoring depth on at least 2 lines, too many times the top line tried to look like the harlem globetrotters last night
Bennett - Monahan - Hudler
Gaudreau - Backs - Frolik
Teams coming to play us know if they shut down our top line they'll probably win the game. So move our biggest threat / creative player onto line #2.
5-1 Flames because Edmonton is no good.

Sounds silly to say this early in the season but this game is a must win, not only to get our own team back on track but to not give the greasers a boost. Our losses so far can be explained away but dropping a game to that group of losers would be awful.

Sit Bolig and Ferland. Play Granlund and Raymond. Start Ortio. Break up the top line. We also need Brodie back asap. Hamilton and Gio look terrible together.

I prefer Hiller over Ramo but really would have liked to see Ortio this game.
Do you think the slow start has made Hartley a little gun shy to go with the less experienced guy in Ortio?

I'm actually ok with this, but Ortio really needs to get some action within the next week or so. It's not fair to have him up and never let him play.

That's how I'm reading it. He just needs to get the team winning/playing well before trusting a young guy in net.

Cue the Ortio fans meltdown. Pretty obvious now Hartley wasn't kidding when he called Ortio his 3rd string. 3rd string in a 2 goalie rotation is nowhere. The guy can't even get a full practice.
In any case, this team needs to play a lot better in front of the goalie. Especially at home. I certainly hope Granlund draws in. A bunch of guys he could replace IMO. Jooris, Raymond, Stajan, Ferland, Bollig to name a few.

There is not a chance in hell Hartely is showcasing Hiller/Ramo. He is there to win. In Hartely's eyes Ortio probably does not look like a 1B goalie at this point in time. When Hartely said Ortio was #3 on the depth chart , i truley believe he thinks that.

I actually agree they are shopping / looking to see which of the vets they want to keep, but what has Ortio accomplished to date that would warrant him not getting a start over Hiller "crap"?
