"Mario" may be in trouble for many streamers....
Notice came down from the Federal Court a few days back on the issue of "unlicensed" live streaming of NHL games....at the request of Bell, Rogers (mostly) and Quebecor but effective against ALL ISPs in Canada:
https://2173091.fs1.hubspotuserconte...ic%20Order.pdf
You can find the non-legal version of the story below, at TorrentFreak:
https://torrentfreak.com/nhl-broadca...-order-220608/
It will be interesting from a technical standpoint to see how this plays out and whether these large media companies continue to block more and other content, or lose so many customers disgusted with their actions, that they stop, or drop prices (yah...right!).

Agree - but the nature of the Court Order is that it is "dynamic" for the duration of any game...and they can order the block at any moment for any game. No further court oversight required.

Ultimately that is what it is. If Rogers truly cared about their product being the best, they would either buy out the Mario site or hire the web developers and make the site design their own. Mario's site is EXACTLY what Gamecenter should be AINEC.
Instead they will cry to a judge to get it shut down and continue to put out a ####ty product which also includes blackouts . Will never forget the day I was in London wanting to watch the WCF between the Jets and Preds and my subscription was blacked out....in f'ing London England. Get bent Rogers.

"Mario" is actually flawless. I've never had problems with that site where as SNet is nothing but problems.
I travel a lot for work and my Snet sub doesn't work in the US, and there are blackouts if I am in other areas of Canada. So dumb.

I found that site a couple years ago before I ever heard anyone mention it. Found it pretty fast and easy and was surprised how good it was and had all the games both home and away.
It really should be a lesson for the big guys that these providers are out there and people will use them.

Iranian Mario is the best, I love watching the opposing team feed so I can get away from Hrudey and Cassie and the rest of the terrible SN crew.

Good luck trying to get people to go the way of paid legal streams when both your service and your broadcast are dog crap.

The blackout rules are the NHL's (unfortunately). Stupid, like the NHL, but true. I live in BC and would otherwise only get 'Nucks games on a regular basis, but I have a Bell satellite account (and a Shaw account in Calgary) that both can feed me Flames games. But the Shaw account doesn't always work properly when I'm in BC...although it's supposed to treat me "like I'm at home". Not true. But the Bell sat account is registered to an Alberta address and is foolproof. They have no idea where the receiver is, so I get all the Flames (and Greasers) games. At least for as long as I bother to pay the bastards...which I'm thinking of canning next season..

rogers and the NHL can kiss my ass. they make a garbage product, and charge an arm and a leg for it.
i dont want to buy the entire ####ing league for 200 dollars. i want jets games. thats it. but those pigs want it all, so i stream and they get nothing. a pox on their house.
not to mention the streaming sites work better and look better. its unreal. where else in the entertainment industry are the streaming copies of better quality and functionality than the real thing?

Yep, same thing for me and the Flames. Not having team specific packages stupid but they're greedy.
It was great when you got it free if you were a Rogers customer but once they stopped I had to start streaming since they black out most Flames games in Manitoba.

The sites aren't being "shut down" under this order. All Canadian ISPs will simply block their DNS lookups and IPs until the games are over.
How effective this will be remains to be determined.

I re-subscribed to Sportsnet Now again for the playoffs just to see if it's gotten any better.... nope. Canceled
When there is a streaming option with no blackouts, runs smoothly, and in full HD, I will purchase it. But right now the only 'legal' options are poor quality, choppy, and can't watch most games. Meanwhile 'illegal' streams are much more consistent, faster and clearer.
I want to give you my money dammit, but the option literally does not exist
