Tigers won today, but the Yankees lost again. Jays are a game up on the Yanks and 2nd in the division! HUGE series coming up.
Thank goodness no more stupid Fenway park this season. What a gong show with a pitching staff that's usually pretty solid.

Jays are currently in 5th, pending the Astros game (Houston is losing 5-4 in the 7th)
Edit: well that didn't take long. 5-5 now

A win is a win but that's not exactly a game to be super proud of. Hope they can play the Yankees tough!

Jays will land at home in 5th place, with the Yankees in 8th.

If Tellez, Teo and Grichuk are for real with the bat, that will go a long ways towards this rebuild ending up successful.

Random thought, but I had totally forgotten about Tim Mayza and the fact that he was out this year with TJS. Crazy, but another decent young bullpen arm the Jays should have back next season. Added bonus that he's a lefty that can strike guys out.

Hernandez and Font to the 10 day IL and Reid-Foley and Davis recalled. With Davis called up there is no reason to have Fisher in the lineup.

Might as well see if Fisher can turn into something under their tutelage.
I mean, I didn't think we'd ever see Hernandez, Grichuk or Tellez perform the way they have this consistently with the bat....so why not Fisher? Sort of the same high power, high strike out type of profile.
Can't hurt to get an extended look. It's still a rebuild after all. Just because this COVID season with expanded playoffs has the Jays in the hunt doesn't mean they should abandon a long term outlook.

The difference for me is that the other 3 showed signs or brief glimpses of being able to put it together, Fisher hasn't shown the same thing and haven't seen anything with Fisher that shows he has the same talent level as Hernandez, Grichuk and Tellez.

Jays with some very hard hit balls in the 1st. A little unlucky to only get 1.

Man Villar has been terrible since he got here. He is good for at least one bone headed play per game. That has been his M.O. for awhile now. Have to hope that his natural ability makes up for it in other places.

Yeah, he might not have it but I'm ok with them taking a look, especially now with the injury to Teo possibly forcing their hand.

Yeah Grichuk was on quite the streak for a bit, and there was a lot of chatter about his new approach, but he’s the same ol’ Grichuk. His metrics are all slowly falling back to the norm. Which is fine, he is what he is. Good speed, defence, and power. Doesn’t hit for average, walk, and strikes out too much.

Yankees get the big hit that the Jays can’t so far. 5-2 Yankees. Jays have left 9 men on base and are 0-11 with risp.

Ugh.
If the Yankees are going to tee off on our "ace" like this, I'm not looking forward to seeing what they'll do to the rest of our starting pitchers who aren't anywhere near Ryu's level.
