Yeah, Ribiero and his NTC. NTC's are terrible as a fan of a team like CGY. Screw you way more than save you I imagine.
It was Cam Ward and a first. Funny thing is I bet Wars would have had a great year here.

As for Ribero...

He was right to take the buyout instead of the trade.. Did he not sign another contract after his buyout to make it worth it even more for him?

He signed a one-year deal with Nashville that lost him money combined with the buyout vs. what he was under contract to make that season.

He had a good year, putting up 62 points, and ended up signing a two year deal with Nashville that ended up making him more with the buyout money than he would have got if he had accepted the trade to the Flames.

It ended up working out for him, but it was a risk at the time.

Bourque was out with a high ankle sprain
Langkow had a broken hand/thumb but was still playing
Bertuzzi was also hurt

That was the whole 2nd line

Some other forwards were also banged up, like Cammy and Moss I believe.
Langkow actually broke both of his hands, but I do believe both injuries were in the playoffs and Phaneuf was playing with broken ribs and a serious hip injury that he had surgery for that off-season, that was where he lost some of his mobility as wasn't the same after.
