4. I'll label them by rank (3rd line LW) but don't select the player that matches that role the best, pick the best player.
Day to Day
We elect a position, say 2nd line RW, remove that name and do the 3rd line RW the next day.

Rittich could be something more...and I like him, and that makes me want to cheer for him.
For a Franchise that's been in Calgary for ~30 years, it's quite sad how hard it is to pick the 3rd best goalie during that time. Not because there's too many to pick from, but rather the sheer putridity of the options.
Lemelin's stats may not look impressive in this day and age but he was a solid NHL goaltender and when I look at the organization's history there have only really been three established starting goaltenders and that is Lemelin, Vernon, and Kipper. All the others were year to year for the most part.

Flames goaltending history is admittedly weak- but not at the 3rd position
Lemelin received all star votes in 5 different seasons, top 3 in Vezina voting twice (as a Flame), one season finished 8th in Hart voting. Played for Canada in the 84 Canada Cup
he was one of the teams best players in their first half decade in Calgary

Pretty clear to me who wins this one.

This was a really fun exercise and offered a chance to watch some old film and dig into the season-by-season Flames-only numbers. Thanks a lot for organizing.
My final "best player" team, which ended up fairly different than the group's.
I found defence quite a bit more difficult than forwards and could easily have had 98-99 Housley, 03-04 Regehr, 14-15 Brodie, or 16-17 Hamilton in the 6/7 spots.
On forward, 06-07 Tanguay warranted serious consideration but no one else, for me.
Some line choices, e.g. McCrimmon versus Reinhart, were essentially coin flips so line swapping to be had.
Might dig into a "best career with the Flames" version for fun as there will be some big tenure-based changes with that.

I probably should vote Lemelin but am going to treat this one a little differently. The 3rd goalie pretty much never plays so I’m going 100% on personal popularity. So Braithwaite it is. He definitely brought a lot of enjoyment to what was a very dark time as a Flames fan.

I voted Turek too, he played behind a couple absolutely awful teams and then when the team in front of him finally got good, he got hurt and we acquired Kipper. After returning from his injury, he was almost as good as Kipper was. Then as you noted he restructured his deal to help the team out before the lockout ended his NHL career. I feel like had there been no lockout season and Turek returned, he would have taken so much pressure off Kipper in the regular season that maybe he'd have taken us further in the playoffs.
On forward, 06-07 Tanguay warranted serious consideration but no one else, for me.
If we were to break segments down of a season, the single best stretch I have personally witnessed was in the month that Iginla was out after fighting Bryan Allen.
Kristian Huselius went into absurd god mode the entire time.
