And it gets more exciting.
Olin Browne, the leader, double bogey's 18.
There is now a 5 way tie for the lead with 4 holes to play for Ames

Saturday update
PGA Tour: The main guys are playing a WGC event. Lots of Canadians in the field for the other event in Puerto Rico. Hearn started strong and has fallen back through three rounds. Currently in the Top 25, which is good. Hearn needs to keep cashing cheques each week and he'll break through at some point.
Roger Sloan was top 5 through 2 rounds and was even par today, falling to 14th. Terrible start to the back 9 today with 4 bogeys and a birdie in the first 5 holes. In fact his holes 8 through 14 were played +4. Had he played that stretch even par he's one shot off the lead.
On the LPGA the tourney is in Thailand. The Thais have some heavyweight hitters in the LPGA with the Jutanagarn sisters so this is a big tourney. Brooke was strong in Rounds 1 and 3 and is currently in T-7. Brooke is 4 shots back but it will be interesting to see what happens if she gets off on a hot start and puts some pressure on the leaders.

Brooke birdies 3 of the last 4 holes - ho hum - to pull herself into solo 6th place.
The final round had a delay mid round, not sure why.
In any event another top 10 for our nation's best golfer.

Calgary's Roger Sloan gets off to a quick start at the Puerto Rico event. 2 under through 2. He's climbed back into an 8 way tie for 4th.
A player will have to go low today to climb up the leaderboard. Example: David Hearn is 1 under through 7 and has dropped 6 spots.
Update: Through 17 and is -3 on the back nine so far. -4 for the day.
18 is a par 5 and he's two back of the lead. if he birdies he would be tied for the clubhouse lead.

Congratulations to CALGARY's ROGER SLOAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
Career best finish. First top 10 of his PGA pro career.
Goes 4 under on the back nine, including birdies on 17 and 18. Makes birdie on 18 with an up and down from the greenside bunker
Currently in the clubhouse T-3, one shot back of the lead. Currently tied for the clubhouse lead. Projected to up his Fed Ex standing by 60 spots, moving into the 80s.
His career total earnings on the PGA before this season were $171,893. He's already made ~$169,892 this season before this result.
Note: this might be the smallest purse of a tournament of the season, but still a great result for Sloan.
Edit again. A leader drops back. Sloan finishes t-2.

Great finish.
Points are points. I know this tournament doesn't get as many as a full field event, but every one counts.

Sloan is halfway to what #125 in FedEx points (377) had last year.
Connors is basically there and Hadwin is well above the line.
The rest of the Canadians are in serious trouble. End of March is halfway.

These tournaments get tougher to get into for some of the web.com and 125-150 guys too. There seem to be 3-4 Canadians that get bumped back and forth between the two tours every year, so not much different than normal.
Graham Delaet sounds like he is close to coming back.
I keep hoping someone other than Weir gets qualified for a major this year. Hadwin is the only one who hasn't any chance without winning a tournament, but isn't play quite well enough to get into the top 50 of world golf rankings that would get him in.

I wonder if there is an "optimum" time for Delaet to come back. He only gets so many starts to earn enough points to retain his card.
As we have been discussing, the number of entries available (invitationals) and the level of competition gets tighter from here on.

Good on you Drew Nesbitt.
He shot 65 to Monday qualify for the Honda this week.

Unless I'm missing something it looks like 80+ players are going to make the cut at Honda. Which means they are going to cut 10+ tomorrow.
Our Monday qualifier made it on the number.... One more round to try to earn a check.

Ben Silverson had a great first day, still in the hunt after a poorer second day due to so many players sucking.

MDFs still get paid.
This water save on his 15th hole got him into the weekend.

whoa! Look at Adam Svennson and Nick Taylor who put in a tie for low round and 3rd lowest round of the day. Both shoot up the leaderboard.
Svennsson in 4th (up 82 spots) and Taylor in 24th (up 62 spots) .
5 Canadians make the cut. 3 currently top 25.
Ames opens the Champions Tour event with a 2 under 71. Has him in 23rd, but 6 shots back. He'll need to get the putter hot to move up.
No Web.com event until March 21st
LPGA has the HSBC World Championship in Singapore this week. Brooke opens with a 75(!!!) followed by a 71 to make the cut. She's currently 4 under through 8 holes in her third round to grind her way up the leaderboard into 16th place. 4 under is currently the low round of the day. She opened with a bogey and then tossed up 5 birdies over the next 7 holes. Let's see how far she can get it. She's at -2 and the leaders are at -7. If she can climb up a few more spots she can start having the leaders look over their shoulders. But she can't afford many errors after that opening round.
Also worth noting: According to Brooke's twitter, she's climbed up into the top 10 in the world rankings after last week.
