My top 6 will be Valimaki, Pelletier, Dube, Kylington, Phillips, Pettersen.

While I love Dube and Kylington, Im putting Pelletier because I believe his whole body of work to this point is superior to what Dube and Kylington had done at the same point in their development. I believe he has a higher upside.

Valimaki's all but officially graduated. He'll be on the main roster come opening night.

I am not sure I have him on my list. I don't rank based on "NHL Ready". Everybody ranks according to their own algorithm, but mine is simply a combination of likelihood of making the NHL + potential level of impact + asset value.

Dube, for me, is a sure-fire, future NHL'er who will be much appreciated for his work on both sides of the puck as a third liner. So for me, he drops somewhat because I see him as a bottom 6 type.

However, I am digesting AC's post as to what kind of a 22 year old season he just finished in the AHL. I didn't see much in the way of having offensive instincts, or a shot, or high-level playmaking while in the NHL, but that's still a small sample size. I don't know. I didn't have him in my top 5, but I am reconsidering it at the moment.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you mean, but Dube is only 20.

The quote I referenced was about forwards over the past 22 years of data, not 22 year olds that had those AHL seasons.

Sorry, reading is apparently hard for me! Thanks for pointing it out.

Also, Artyom Zagidulin is spelled incorrectly.

Valimaki might be second best defenceman in the entire organization by this time next year. Can we even call him a prospect?

We debated it a little bit but really it just came down to NHL games played, which I think we decided on 41. Sure if he didn't get injured he probably hits that but that's the way she goes I guess

Is there any way to vote using Tapatalk? Valimaki is the easy choice here.

As far as I can tell, no. But the simple solution is to opt for the "web view" of the thread in the app, and then you can vote from there. But in this case, its won't work anyways because the poll is closed.

Only about half as many posts in this thread as the previous couple of years, and most were discussing the picks down the board. Such a runaway.

Juuso Valimaki
Absolutely dominated junior, and then played extremely well in the AHL despite his age. Looked a bit over his head in NHL action but again he just turned 20 at the start of the season. Big frame that moves well and is extremely poised and confident with the puck. Rarely punts, instead opting to analyze targets and deliver a first crisp pass. Also confident skating the puck into and through the neutral zone. Fabulous prospect.

Ceiling: #1 defenseman
Probable: #1 or #2 defenseman
Floor: #4 defenseman

Also in consideration
Dillon Dube
Terrific two-way centre who can easily transition to either wing. Terrific utility player. Generated sizeable production in junior without abandoning his defensive duties and didn't rely on the powerplay. Carried that into a monster first season in the AHL given his age at over a point-per-game with only a quarter coming on the PP. Also doesn't rely on others to carry him generating over 3 shots/game. A step behind in the NHL in both pre-season and regular season as expected - training camp heater gave brief unrealistic expectations for those who puck watch exclusively.

Ceiling: 1st line C/W
Probable: 1B/2A C/W
Floor: 3rd line C
