A trade!

The Philadelphia Flyers have traded the rights to center Cooper Marody to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, according to general manager Ron Hextall.
The Flyers acquire the New Jersey Devils' third-round pick in 2019 in the trade, which was previously acquired by Edmonton.
Marody, who is in his third season at the University of Michigan, was selected by the Flyers in the sixth round (158th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

So the Oilers essentially trade Maroon for this guy and Dudek

In before someone asks why they're allowed to trade after the deadline.

Would be quite a shame if he walked towards free agency next year. I would imagine they would have confirmed he will come out & sign but then... you know... Oilers.

Norm!

So the Flyers don't believe that he will sign and recover a way better draft pick. They turned a 6th round draft pick on a guy that wasn't going to sign for a third round draft pick and he might not sign with the Oilers
Nice move . . . I guess . . I don't know

Well, hes not eligible for the playoffs and in the Oilers' case that shouldnt be a concern for the foreseeable future.

They will be awarded next year's Stanley Cup. No one else need apply.
They've got the banner already made and ready to raise.

Turning a 6th into a 3rd, not a bad bit of business for the Flyers.

To be the fair, the third is going to be the last pick, 93rd overall, after Taylor Hall lifts the Stanley Cup and wins the Conn Smythe.

I wouldn't either, it's a team game so it's either all of them or none of them.

Sorry I meant I don't think NJD is making the playoffs, let alone Hall getting the Conn Smythe.

The way the Oilers draft, any return for their picks is better than holding on to them.
