The other people were/are worse is an elementary school level justification. It is not about being better then the other people, its about doing whats best for Albertans.

I don't care which party is in charge so long as they take some ####ing accountability instead of deflecting responsibility anytime they don't get things right. It all starts at the voting base, people are too loyal to their party, and it makes politicians too confident that they are smart, when really they should be humble.

No. You’ve clearly either misread my post or are intentionally ignoring my inclusion of the word significant to describe the reduction. After all it would be far more productive than reading your failed attempts to put words in my mouth, or should I say taking them out in this case.

Well since you’re the only person who interpreted what I wrote as that I guess I’ll leave it to you to figure out why it makes no sense.

The government just released an 84 page report on recommendations to cut spending and change the way services are offered. Instead of reading that report and commenting and discussing policy that will affect the way the government operates we get a bunch of whining about humorous tweets.
If you don’t want people discussing what you label as humorous tweets maybe you should consider not engaging in the discussion and focus on posting about the things you do want to discuss. Be the change you want to see GGG, you can do it!

Oh look, our Catholic education minister has decided we don't need public in our school names anymore. Why? What gives? What is the goal here? Ugh.

pretty sad that the best I can say about the UCP is that at least I didn't vote for them.

I agree with this
"Former Progressive Conservative deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk, no admirer of Premier Kenney or the UCP, has commented on the topic on social media, suggesting in a tweet the change was made “in the name of fanatical ideological symbolism to erase the concept of Public Education.”

People wonder what Scheer would actually do because of his beliefs. It's garbage like this. At absolute minimum it's a waste of time and money. At worst it's an attempt to further entrench an archaic belief system into the education of our children. There is zero reason we should have religious school systems. Particularly from a government that claim.s to want to find efficiencies and save money.

Lukaszuk had a good conversation with Charles Adler about this on his September 4 radio show. You can listen to the podcast through normal podcast providers. It's worth a listen.

Clearly it's all about jobs, economy, and pipelines

the word 'Public' can be associated with socialist economic ideology so I do agree they are doing this largely for ideological reasons. On the other hand public funds support charter schools, supports private schools, and supports Catholic schools so there really is no point in using the word 'Public' as it really does not denote anything different about the schools anymore. I'm largely indifferent on this one. Removing the word doesn't bother me as long as it is not costing anything in this age of looming cutbacks.

Changing wording and names is never free.

Looks like the UCP released the website where you can now report enemies of Alberta. This is definitely a good chance to snitch on your friends that might be putting up solar panels or are complacent on TMX, C-48, or C-69. #ReportanAlbertan is also trending a bit

If the Stasi taught us anything, it's best to be ahead of the curve when it comes to snitching. Report your friends and neighbors regardless of what they've done in case they'll report you for something. Don't risk falling behind in your Albertan-ness, do right by The Party.

JK and Harper didn't approve as many pipelines as I wanted them to when they were in Ottawa. That seems suspiciously un-Albertan and against our interests. I'm going to report the entire Conservative cabinet from 2006-2015 as part of this inquiry.

By the way, this Inquiry will not allow FOIP requests. It says so on their sweet website. How convenient

I have a friend who works for Pembina. He says it's the pipeline company but I'm not willing to take that chance. He's gotta go on the list.

Funny you mention Pembina, the Pembina Institute (an Alberta-based think tank) seems to want to transition to green energy and has called for less reliance on the royalty revenue in response to the Mackinnon Report. That doesn't even seem suspicious, that just glares like outright treason to real Albertans and they need to disappear - quietly and discreetly.

Screw it, anyone not driving a gas engine pickup is going to be flagged and we'll see who's still left in 2023.

Amnesty International urges Alberta Government not to proceed with this:

https://www.amnesty.ca/news/amnesty-...%E2%80%99-open

Quote:
The human rights organization is deeply concerned that Kenney’s proposed “Fight Back Strategy” undermines and violates a range of Alberta’s human rights obligations, under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and international law. Further, his approach exposes human rights defenders – particularly Indigenous, women, and environmental human rights defenders – to intimidation and threats.
