Is that the official channel?

I usually like a little more GoT with my compression artifacts

Yeah, the GOT channel on YouTube. It must be a problem with your connection. It looks fine to me.

This is going to be brilliant.

If I had to guess its going to be someone weak and the 'Game of Thrones' just goes and round and round again...then fade to black and credits!

We should start a poll.

The kingdoms unify to battle the White Walkers. Lots of people die.

That's all I got.

The Night King sitting on the iron throne is the final scene I've always imagined

That's kind of what the Wire did: the characters we watched grow through the series end up in the same positions as other characters at the start of the series, revealing that they are all trapped in an inescapable cycle of despair.

One of the best descriptions I've heard for GoT is that it's a simple story told in a very complex way and the simplest ending I can think of is Dany unifying the realms to defeat the White Walkers. So I'm expecting some variation of that.

I secretly hope Little Finger wins the day (and finally settles on an accent).

Probably doesn't have to worry about any accent any more.

So HBO is running the entire series now in advance of the new season and the first two episodes of Season 1 aired last night (and of course I watched again..).

Got me thinking. GOT premiered 8 years ago in April, 2011 well before the MeToo movement began. Would several GOT scenes get written and filmed if the series started today? Even in the first episode there was a brutal sexual assault of a lead character.

I wonder if movies and television, even cable, have been irreversibly changed in the current age of MeToo.

It's definitely going to be seen through a different lens. Go back to the first season of the Big Bang Theory and watch the way Howard treats Penny without cringing. Straight up sexual predator behavior.

I more wonder if the appreciation for context will be lost in a way we haven't seen before. For instance, All in the Family is still a classic study of the times, and the characters (Bunker) and situations (bigotry) are appreciated according to their proper context 40 years later.

I suspect period pieces, even those set in fantasy, will receive far more lenient objections than modern sitcoms. That said, people lost their collective #### over an off-screen rape in the 6th (?) season.

Why do we have to approach a fantasy world with a modern lens? Why can't we see it purely as escapism?

I don't think most things done on GOT was socially acceptable in the last few hundred years.

Watching as a female, what sort of escapism would rape provide?
