First year of his contract extension too. Absolutely bonkers. His numbers took a major hit with the game yesterday, but Quick was the starter and had an even worse showing

Petersen 12 saves on 16 shots
Quick 9 saves on 14 shots

Petersen 10games played 5-3-2 (3.75 GAA, 0.87 SV %)
Quick 17 games played 7-6-2 (3.3 GAA, 0.88 SV%)

Mutual contract termination is possible, though I don’t know why Petersen would want to do that.

Yes thanks, that's what I was referring to, but you're right, probably wouldn't happen unless he's really unhappy with being demoted and believes he can do better in another organization.

It's funny how hockey culture avoids pointing the finger at bad goaltending, but when enough is enough it can suddenly turn into an unceremonious launching into the sun.

I wonder if there was an internal conflict with Peterson and the organization leading to his demotion.

Interesting risk assessment by Rob Blake.

If he clears, he gets to find his game in the AHL and hopefully come back stronger. If he is claimed, they suddenly have a lot of cap space to play with. Phoenix Copley is playing very well in the AHL and can back up Quick.

That is stunning news. Ruthless by the GM. I wonder if he is put on waivers for the purpose of a buyout? Chances of being claimed are very low.
Could be sending a message. I'm sure he's been on the phones trying to unload him and knows the market well.

They could threaten him with a trade to Edmonton.

Score 8 goals in a game, still lose because your goalie let in 9, thats a tough day on the ice.

If you're Columbus, maybe Buffalo, it's worth taking a shot I think.

I highly doubt a claim, but it could signal a trade, such that the acquirer dumps salary or LAK retains, with basically nothing coming back.

ummm i was following that game. Quick was the starter and let in 5! Jones let in 8 for Seattle.

Poor ole Cal only let in 4 and got fired! lol

I won an over/under bet of 16.5 yesterday! lol!!

If they can find a taker for Petersen, then a Markstrom for Quick trade makes great sense.

Bernier
Martin Jones
Scrivens
Campbell
Peterson

LAK's backup has been the next big thing for over a decade. None of them have really turned into longterm #1s

I can't believe they are paying him that much. What the heck were they thinking when they gave him that contract?
