Crazy, I was just mentioning his stroke to my wife from 2014 when they were in Pittsburgh last week.

Hoping for a speedy recovery.

I thought that he may as well call it quits since he's 35 but then you look at his contract and he is in the 1st year of a 6 year contract. If this isn't career threatening, as has been suggested, and he feels he has a lot left then he'll keep on for a few more years.

Scary stuff. I just hope he has enough sense to listen to what his doctors say and just call it quits and hang up the blades.

Is that, in fact, what his doctors are saying?

I don't think it's hockey causing his strokes. In fact, staying active probably helps?

Certainly won't be drawing any conclusions without knowing the facts, but I wish him well.

We don't know. I'm just hoping that if it does come to that point that he listens.

It's a heart defect. He'd be having these strokes whether he was an elite athlete or a fat accountant. The fact he's the former is probably helping with recovery

I am no doctor, but something doesn't sound right with that explanation. Do you have something that corroborates this?

When he had his first stroke in 2014, they determined he has a small hole in the wall of his heart

Thank you but it still makes me wonder about the correlation between a small hole in the wall of his heart and that being the cause of two strokes. Anyone that knows more on this, it would be appreciated if you chime in.

It's interesting how these things manifest. For example, Jay Bouwmeester was known for his endurance and yet had a heart defect.

Hopefully, Letang is all clear and can resume his career and most importantly be healthy for a long time

The hole in the heart allows a small space for clots to escape and get up to the brain that is normally not there.
