Honestly if this is what got the Glazers to actually agree to selling then the fan base should be applauding Ronaldo's actions.

(I know the two things are actually completely unrelated...but it's still fun to joke about)

I'll believe it when I see it. They could still "just" bring in some extra money through a third party investor.

but I'll take that small glimmer of hope. Would love for Jim Ratcliffe to take over.

I wonder which oil state buys them. Maybe just an individual Sheikh.

Maybe Elon. I get the sense he's bored of Twitter and he'd love the opportunity to ruin a football club.

Ruining something already in ruin would be too boring for him. He should buy
Man City.

I'll guess MBS buys them for himself, separate from the PIF.

Interesting that all of a sudden all of these clubs are 'open to offers.'

Ya know, upon reflection on Ronaldo... my harsh ill will has passed. After the events of the first half of the season, a blow up was pretty much inevitable. His scathing criticisms of the Glaziers, surely helped my about face. Scholes, Beckham, Keane, Rooney, and even Cantona too, have all had their demons exhibited at the club. Indeed, the interview helped propel him to the end result he desired,.. and this too will wash over, and he'll be a welcomed, retired, returning legend.

I have a very different perspective. The players you've mentioned primarily fell out with Ferguson ... Ronaldo went out of his way to #### on the whole club. It was an unprecedented move to get what he wanted, and he didn't give two ####s about the club in doing so. None of the players mentioned came even close to this. Add the fact that he compared himself to a slave the first time he left and calling him a club legend becomes, to me, impossible. Great player? Obviously. He's the best player I've seen in a United shirt. But legend? Nah. He's burned way too many bridges for that.

And he doesn't get an iota of credit from me for criticizing the Glazers either. He sneaks in three sentences about them into a 90 minute smear interview? Wow, big deal. He happily took their money this past year, after all. But he knew that criticizing them in the interview would a) enhance his chances of becoming a free agent, and b) score him some cheap points with the fanbase.

He can go pound sand.

Yeah it will be tough in the short term but I think longer term he will be seen as a club legend again.

Honestly even by getting out of his contract he did United a favor.

In the end he should have kept it behind closed doors...but who knows what the behind closed doors discussions were this season, and even in the offseason.

I was actually a bit surprised he seemed so open to mutual termination with no type of pay out. So maybe behind closed doors he was asking for that and United wouldn't give it to him before his interview.

Really tough to say at this point.

there's been speculation that the club would not sue him for breach of contract if he accepted not getting a pay out.

It makes sense. It allows for a quick and clean break without a drawn out legal battle. He gets his freedom, United saves a lot of money.
