England were dominant until the red card. And even then it was close.

Imagine that is the first game you have even seen.
Those athletes highlighted the things I love about the sport.

Can hockey be reffed more rugby style?
That actually could be said for nearly every sport that isn’t rugby.

Imagine if the game was played the same?
Imagine if you could back big clean open ice hits without having to fight.
The officiating in this game was good.

If it makes Canadian fans feel any better the USA also failed to qualify for the 2023 World Cup. They were eliminated in the most heartbreaking fashion, drawing Portugal and losing out to them on points difference.

A good day of rugby.
Ireland peaking six months before a World Cup, as is tradition. But who knows, maybe it will be different this time (please let it be different this time).
Scotland exploiting some shocking England defending will make for some good stuff for the Netflix docu-series.

First of all, awesome. She’s about to play a fantastic team sport with no rival for camaraderie! I don’t know if you know the rules, but you probably would want to familiarize yourself, just so you know what’s happening when you watch.

I echo Slava's sentiments, Rugby is wonderful for forming friendships.
What do you need to know?
There will be Blood.
There will probably be beer.
Dont take it personally if she gets rocked every now and again, its going to happen, be proud when she makes a good tackle or a good play, be even prouder if she takes a good hit to make a play.
Other than that, the only thing I'd say is to be careful of injuries, even what seem like relatively minor ones. I've got a few that I was encouraged to play through that from 16 are dogging me into my 30s.

I sort of know most of the rules, from watching RWC on TV mostly.
Not sure exactly what the types of fouls are, but definitely know what’s going on.

Tell her to stretch! She won’t listen, but at least she can be like the rest of us as we age and say “I never stretched, but I wish I did now!”

I am jealous that your girl is at the beginning of her rugby journey.
You can down load the World Rugby App, it goes over the laws really well. BTW, they are Laws, not rules.
It is a sport that makes no concessions for women playing the sport. All Laws in Men’s are the same as Women’s.
Rugby is a CIS sport for Women. Scholarships at Canadian schools are available.
She will get hurt, every game. It doesn’t mean she will get injured every game.
Hurt and injured are different.
The official will not stop play for a minor injury, the play should continue around D the player(not something I agree with all the time)
She is joining an international brotherhood/sisterhood that immediately allows her a group of friends anywhere in the world, even if they have never met before.
I love the sport. I miss playing it every day, it my body would allow me I would still play.
Game play at its base is simple, run forward, pass backwards. If hue/she has the ball hit them.
You can unpack the tactical parts for the game about 100 beers.
Also, there are two versions Rugby mainly played in Canada:
7’s - 7 player a side on a full side field, 7 min half
15’s - 15 players a side, 40 min half

I stretched religiously. It didnt help.
Oh, and it should probably go without saying, but I'll say it anyways, make sure you're stocked up on basic medical supplies.
You will be using gauze, medical tape and lots of peroxide. A good First Aid kit...and no, I'm not being alarmist, thats just for basic maintenance.
If she doesnt come home with open wounds after a game then no game was played.
What position is she playing or have they gotten to that yet?
I echo UCB though, if I could still play I would. Despite the aches and pains, I enjoyed playing and I think back on it fondly.
