Well, Bianca almost hit him with her racket.
The crowd is now cheering faults on Bianca's serve.

One of the commentators made reference to turning into pumpkins, so there's that.

Yeah the timing of that racket toss couldn’t have come at a worst time after my comment

I mean, I dunno about the swinging volley there. Why not let it bounce? Would you really be in that much worse a spot?

That was a body shot and looked pretty intentional - Nothing wrong with it from a rules prospective, but I didn't see any apology which is the usual thing to do.

Is it normal for tennis broadcasting to be this bias?
I know it’s the US Open and American network but sheesh

Bianca nailed Townsend in the shoulder earlier in the match and I didn't see one from her, either. No biggie.
This is a huge service game right here.

American tennis broadcasting? Absolutely. It's worse than watching an Oilers broadcast. Like, twice as bad. Consistently.

That was on a serve-and-volley by Townsend though, she should be expecting that ball to potentially be coming right back at her. A little different from a net cord where Bianca is right at the net and Townsend nails one right at her. As I said, it's all fair game, but an apology is the sporting thing to do.

Good hold.
Bianca's having a much easier time serving to the deuce court against the leftie in this set. Lots of cross court backhands that are unreturnable. The ad court is where all the problems materialize.

Don't feel it was much different than the Rogers Cup with Sportsnet commentators. The home broadcaster is going to cheer for the home players since that's who majority of the viewers are cheering for.
FWIW, I'm watching the non-ESPN feed on TSN2.

Captain Obvious says a break would be huge here.

Commentators appear not to have noticed that literally every time Andreescu has played a heavy slice in the middle of a rally, it's produced an unforced error from Townsend. Great adjustment from Bianca later on in the match to think, "hey, I wonder if I do this..."
Double break. Bring it home!
