Felix and Shapo face off in the first round in Madrid with the winner playing Nadal. Tough draw for the young Canadians.

Nobody wants to go through qualies unless they have to, but that's some pretty terrible draw luck for both Felix and Denis.

Shapo and Felix are underway with Felix up an early break in set 1. No tv for this match unfortunately, it is on TSN.ca however.

How is this match not on TV?
I have to watch on RDS, who switched their programming to show it.

Hawkeye says the serve is good, ump looks at the ball mark and calls it out. End result is Denis is down two breaks and Felix is serving up 5-2 in the opening set.

Felix takes the opening set 6-2. Denis has some big points to defend as he was a semi-finalist in Madrid last year.

Denis basically throws a service game away with wild ground strokes and Felix is up a break in set 2.
Edit: Felix gives it back on his next service game. Not exactly high quality tennis at the moment.

It's a high quality tiebreak though.

Born and raised. I wish nothing but the best for Felix, Shapo and Milos unless there playing Nadal.

That's fair as there's no rule that says you have to cheer for countrymen players. I like Nadal as well but I couldn't cheer for him over the Canadians but I'm also a guy that cheers for the American teams in the playoffs after the Flames get eliminated.
